switch fromm 14k to 10k! by PAUL VORESIS

Comments: i recently switched from 14k phoenix to 10k xm. as far as looks go, these lights are yellow and make my tank look horrible. none of my sps colors show well; greens, reds, blues, and purples all look bad. as for growth rate, (which is why i switched to 10k) most corals are continuing to grow at the same rate as with the 14k with exception of a red milli and a palmers blue milli. both these millis were at the bottom of my 24" tall aquarium and have not grown at all since being placed there as of 3 months ago. within a week of installing the 10k's both corals have new growth on their tips and are now growing at a relatively fast pace. happy with growth, not at all happy with the color and overall look of the tank. will switch back to phoenix or radium 20k in 5-6 months after this "grow-out phase" I would not recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I have used Ushio 10K lamps for almost nine years and have had nothing but outstanding performance and results in my SPS corals.Well, I did some homework on some of the work Sanja Joshi publishes on PAR, PFD, and CCT numbers and the XM 250W DE lamp had some great numbers. So, I thought I would buy a couple this time around when it came time to replace the Ushios.I bought two and one of them is performing beautifully and really does seem to be visibly brighter than the Ushios. The problem is that the second XM lamp is yellow and not very bright. So, I sent it back ($8 shipping) and got another one. Guess what, same problem. I know it is not the ballast because I have swapped lamps. So, I have to send another lamp back. Another $8 shipping charge? This lamp replacement is getting expensive and I am not convinced I am getting a quality item. I never had this problem with the Ushios in all these years.Now, I am really at the point where I would rather go back with the Ushios.Make your own decision as to whether or not you trust this lamp. I am just stating the facts. I would not recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I like the bulb. The color seems to be whitish w/ hints of blue. I replaced a 20k bulb with this one because I am looking for more coral growth. With the 20k bulb, growth was at a standstill. My tree coral looks like it hit puberty and my xenia are sprouting new branches. I'm very pleased. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: SINCE THE FIRST DAY I PUT THE 10000K BULB IN IT HAD A YELLOW TINT TO IT AND IT STILL DOES THE 20000K BULB IS THE BEST. BEAUTIFUL COLOR AND THE CORALS THRIVE AND OPEN UP VERY WELL I would not recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I got these bulbs to replace the stock ones that came in my Coralife Pro series. Work great and are like the ones I took out (1 yr old ). They will take a couple of days running till you get the actual brightness that they are going to be,(common thing with M/H lighting. Service from Marine Depot was, as always GREAT!!! Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.
