I got the 36" 8000k light for a planted freshwater tank. The build quality and industrial design are great, the light output is high and the light quality is great. You can show this light off and people will be impressed. It feels and looks worth the high cost.
It is not enough light output for a planted tank with 18" depth however, I probably would need 2 of them.
But, after about 22 months of use, less than 12 hours a day on a timer (not even 1/10th of the rated 55,000 hours), the last foot of LEDs started blinking and dimming randomly. If I shake the thing they will blink to full brightness briefly. It is built with 3 one foot strips soldered together in series and attached to a long extruded aluminum heat sink, and I believe the connection is failing between 2 of the panels. It didn't get wet, it was never moved, and now I have a broken light out of warranty, with no means of repair. A fixture this costly should last longer.
LED's fail prematurely, this is a risk you take with the technology. Given that knowledge, I think my next solution will be smaller strips daisy-chained, so that if one fails I only have to replace a single cheaper strip. This is higher cost up front but worth the flexibility and insurance in case of failure.

This was a upgrade to my 14 gal Aqua Pod. Ive been looking for a LED upgrade for some time now and after alot of reserch I ordered the TrueLumen Pro kit. The kit included everything needed to install in the canopy in about 20 mins. Its a little bluer than I expected, so I ordered an additional Dimond white strip. Even so the colors of my fish and soft coral are amazing. Everything seems to be so happy. For the money, color and easy of install you really can't go wrong with this set-up. Rapid LED has a nice Nano retro kit for the same price but it requires gutting the canopy, wire spices and sodering.

I have three 36" strips(2x actinic blue & 1x combo) on my 60 gallon reef tank with a good mix of sps and lps.
Pros:
- Deep light penetration
- Noticeable coral growth within weeks
- Actinic blues are some of the best looking blues I've seen
Cons:
- Expensive as all hell
- Linking connections do not seal properly & corrode over time, stick to each other, and eventually fall apart.
- Keep pivoting them, and eventually the cheap solder will break (under the white cover at the ends). It is a PITA to solder them back on.
- If you don't re-solder it right away, wiring will break bit by bit, and the load will eventually cause it to set on fire. I have photos in case the manufacturer is reading this.
- Bulbs are too close together & the linear design doesn't allow for an even distribution of light.
Overall, I would not recommend these strips due to shotty craftsmanship and lack of customer support. If I could go back, I would have saved up for the Orphek Nilus or the EcoTech Radions.

Have had the lights for about two weeks. Extremely easy and fast to install. Lighting and color is much better than I anticipated. No heat buildup in water, so no need for the chiller. No heat build up in room, so no fans in hood needed, and saves on AC for house. This replaced 2x 250 watt metal halide, with 2 actenic blues...I have the 36" marine fusion x 2. Not quite as bright as the metal halide, but very close, could possibly use 1 more strip.
I have a 180 gallon with 50 gallon reserve, very deep tank, and I get very good deep light penetration.I recomend these lights to anyone, large or small tanks.

This is a nice light with a sleek profile but the amount of light output is lower than I expected from a fixture in this price range.

This product is exactly what I was looking for to add additional lighting to highlight corals in my tank. The only exception I have with this product is that I would have preferred to have been able to purchase in a 20in. strip rather than a 12in.

I purchased two 48 inch strips in an effort to add a bit more blue to my tank. The tank is 96" long and 30" front to back. Before I added the strips, I was lighting it with EcoXotic Retro 2 units. Four of them and had added stunner strips in an attempt to get the blue that I desire. The addition of the TrueLumen helped, but not as much as I had hoped. And I still am trying to figure out why they sell transformers that will power just two 48" strips but sell splitters that will connect up to three strips. I really don't like having one lead unused. Oh well, I guess that is on me. The lights do okay, but as I stated, they just don't come up to all the hype about them.
