14000K Metal Halide Bulb - Phoenix, Double-Ended Information




This 150W 14000K bulb casts a crisp-white light with a blue tint. Great for bringing out the coloration of fish and corals while providing sufficient intensity for growth. An HQI, Pulse-Start or Electronic ballast is required. This bulb is offered at an excellent price and is a very good choice for reef tanks up to 18" deep.

Blue Tint - Similar to Actinic

Comments: I'm running these in a 2 x 150w fixture with 4 T-5's (3 Actinic + 1 Fiji Purple). I replaced Hamilton 14k halides with these because the Hamilton were almost harshly white, washed out a lot of the vivid coloring in both my corals and fish. These bulbs definitely have a blue tint, it's similar to the appearance of the tank under Actinic bulbs only, but brighter. It isn't overly blue, just has that clean look to it I've learned to associate with blue bulbs. If you favor that bluish look, these are the bulbs you want.

Comments: This is a very good bulb! I have no complaints so far. It doesn't throw off as much heat as other bulbs its size and I'm not sure why. Whatever this manufacturer is doing keep it up!

Comments: I was skeptical about swapping to these bulbs a few years ago from my tested and working bulbs that I was using. Lets face it these bulbs aren't the cheapest around. After about a week I could see noticeable changes in the color of my fish and coral. After a few months I found myself having to frag coral because I was growing too much. The bottom line is if you want healthy colorful coral buy these lights.
