Most of the MH bulbs in the same wattage format can be interchanged. However, please contact us to make sure.

The K at the end of color rating for each bulb stands for Kelvin. This is a measurement of the color temperature. The higher the Kelvin rating, the cooler (bluer) the color of light given off by the bulb. In general, the color given off by the 10,000K German is interpreted as being a perfect white color.

NOTE: Double ended bulbs should always be used with the UV shield (supplied with most pendants). You and your corals can suffer from excess UV radiation otherwise. The bulb should be handled carefully as well since it has no outer glass casing. Using soft gloves is a good idea to keep finger prints off bulb. This is during installation and replacement.

Excellent!

Comments: I have been using this light for close to a year now. I recently added it to a larger tank with multiple (and more expensive) halide lighting. This bulb was much warmer and really brought the color out in my corals. It is in the middle of a three bulb halide system and puts the other bulbs to shame. This bulb has the Kelvin rating as my others but looks much more natural.

Comments: The lights are great. Buying the 13000K bulbs to replace the 10000K that are included is expensive, but worth the money. I have the same fixture running with the 10000K's and much prefer the bluer look. The two warnings are that the lights on the leg stands make it very hard to get your arm in the tank to work, so be prepared for this or hang them from the included cables that you can raise and lower. The second is that they heat the water a lot and the fans are noisy. You get used to the noise, but make sure to have a chiller and/or a fan running across the top of the tank. As lights, though, they are first rate.
