Good bulb, better value

After putting together a new frag flat and purchasing a halide fixture for it I soon realized just how old the bulbs were, getting no response from corals. I've heard nothing but good things about Phoenix 14k bulbs. Searched high and low and marinedepot offered them some of the cheapest pricing I could find. They shipped same day, arrived a day early. Got them put in and bam withing a day my corals responded much better to halide light hours. Only thing is, it's not quite as blue as some people make it out to be, definitely not a 20k color that I've been told it gives. That being said, I don't mind, because it still pops colors just fine and it has a more natural look. I used LEDs when I first got into the hobby and yeah the colors are super bright and pop like nothing nice seen but holy crap it just looks unnatural to me so I switched to halides and these bulbs don't disappoint. If you're looking for halide bulbs to replace your old ones, look no further

Looks good so far

It's a bit early to tell how this new bulb will do over time, but it looks really good so far. I went from a 10K and wanted a 12K-13K bulb. I was worried a 14K would be too blue, but I like the color better than I thought I would. I have the bulb 18 to 20 inches above the tank, so this might help tone down the blue color. I might give the bulb a higher score if I was asked down the road. I can tell my corals (sps, lps, polyps, hard, soft, etc.) look to be reacting to the light and spectrum in a positive way after just a few hours. I hope this helps other reef keepers.

Great bulb, but expensive here

Great bulbs. Very nice color, and perform well over a growout tank. It's not quite as blue as I would like, but with the two T5s supplementing, it looks great. Very expensive here - I've found in other places for 2/3 the price.
