I was running a Iwaski 15k for the last 6 months and although the growth with that bulb was nice i never got used to the yellow/white tint it has and since i don't use supplement lighting, i was looking for a bulb that had a nice blue to it, the XM 15k bulb has better color than the Iwaski 15k, but at this time i haven't been able to judge growth with the XM 15k since it's only been running a month
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Perfect Reef Color

I've run this 15K XM bulb on my reef off and on since I setup my reef years ago. It's the perfect mix of crisp white/blue. Every now and then I get a wild hair and want to try out something different thinking it will be better (like 10K or 20K bulbs) and every time I'm disappointed and ticked off that I didn't just stick with the 15K bulbs that I love. The 10K is far too yellow looking (even though in theory it's crisp white, somehow, not when it's over my tank!!!) and the 20K is way too washed out blue over my tank! The 15K doesn't wash out color, purples, greens, reds, blues and yellows, all look like their true color under these lights... only slightly more bold. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed. They can be run stand alone or with actinics and the extra blue is not overkill, perfect mix!
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

IT WORKS FOR ME. I JUST MADE A CHANGE FROM REEFLUX 12K. JUST DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT, I TRIED THE 15K XM. THE XM IS A LITTLE BLUER THAN THE 12K...AND IT SHOULD. ITS A PERSON PREFERENCE. I WOULD RECOMMEND TRYING IT FOR YOURSELF.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

This bulb is marketed as being half way between 10000k and 20000k but mine were more blue than the XM 20000K that I have used for years. The visual intensity was low as well especially for the 400w lamps that I am used to.These might be good for soft corals or simulated deep water tanks but are not the best for sps and are unusable for clams as the intensity is that low and the spectrum that blue. You will need suplemental daylight lighting in my opinion.I have used most manufacturers bulbs, and most of the availible kelvin ratings in 175,250 and 400w and I would only recommend these bulbs under certain circumstances.Buy the 20k or the Hamilton 10 and you will be happier.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Im using a icecap electronic ballasts with 2-175w and a 250w in a 180gallon tank and the bulbs come out a crisp blue. Im using blue/purple combo actinics as dawn/dusk and transition nicely from one to the other.

Great product. I went from a 10k XM to this one and love the color. I was also happy with past XM bulbs. No issues and great color.

I purchased two of these bulbs for my main 180 gal. reef tank at the recommendation of one of the Marine Depot sales dept. guys. To tell the truth, I was impressed with the fact that he recommended the least expensive bulb, He also mentioned that the expected performance of these bulbs peak at about 7 months normal use, after which they decline slowly. My prior bulbs were Hamiltons and Venture, both which were either a bit too blue or too yellow. These new XM 15,000 - in my opinion - emit just the right balance and I am very pleased with them. So pleased, in fact, that I have an order in for two replacements bulbs when the time comes after 12 months use. Tage

I have been using XM 15k bulbs for a couple years now. They don't promote growth as fast as the 10k bulbs but give much better color to the reef tank. I highly suggest them.

I switched to these 15,000k Bulbs from my 10,000k because they were way to yellowish for my taste, but 20,000k was too blue. Needless to say these bulbs bring the perfect color balance to my reef, bringing out the true colors of my corals. I strongly recommend these bulbs for anyone who wants the crispness of 10,000k and the atinic of 20,000k.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Added two of these MH bulbs on a 55 gallon tank. Very satisfied after only having them on the tank for a couple of weeks. Corals look real great with the 15000K (vivid). I've also noticed the increase of the coral growth. Now, was that because the previous bulbs were very old or because the corals love there XM bulb?
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

I've used 10k Metal Halides for years but wanted to try a bluer hue for my softies reef tank. All the warm earth tones now have a bluer tint. My finger corals and mushrooms now pop with blue. My tank looks more "under water" now! I'm waiting for replacement actinic PCs to supplement my lighting. They should make the contrast even more dramatic.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

This is the second time that I have purchased this exact bulb. My only complaint is the significant difference in color. The first time was fairly blue. This time crisp white. I like both, but would like more consistant.

The 15000k 400w XM bulk looks fantastic in my client's tank. It casts a beautiful shimmer on the liverock and illuminates the corals with a perfect blend of blue-and-white color. This bulb is ideal for like-minded people who think 10k is too white and 20k is too blue. The shipping was also amazingly fast, and the bulb was well-packed. I will be returning here for all of my clients' needs. Five stars!
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Too Blue

Comments:
I was disapointed by the color temp - way too blue. Makes tank dark, colors not true. Yellows/reds/greens don't stand out at all. An extra star because packaging tube w/ foam is an excellent idea.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.
