This is a great kit. Once you understand how to set it up it is fairly easy. Just know, the directions are horrible so you will need to spend on time on the internet. You may also need to plan on installing fans. Once I had mine up and going they heated my water up by about 3-4 degrees. I installed some very quiet fans and now the set up is amazing.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

I just installed the unit into my hood yesterday. I have no electronics experience. It was a little bit confusing to install but I got it after a second. To be honest I expected a lot more for the price I paid, but still worth it if you are using a hood over your tank. Using t5 54w bulbs, the light turned out to be strong.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

I was using PC suppliments after a hurricane season distroyed my VHO lighting (no replacements available in LFS around and was desperate) and my coral's growth were stunted. I finally decided to stop wasting money on expensive replacement bulbs for the PC's and ordered these T5's with the highly respected IceCap ballast (incredibly still made in the USA). The installation was not easy (expect a trip or two to the hardware store for zip ties and cable holders) IceCap's wiring harness is too short for a 3ft tank so purchase the extended wiring harness prior to the installation. They should also consider a quick disconnect for the T5 ballasts as well. After the installation was complete (again not the easiest), select your bulb combination carefully. You will have to get "one of each" to test the spectrum to your desired colors. At firing up of the upgrade I noticed right away the happiness of my corals (primarily SPS and LPS). Within 24 hrs the corals have shown impressive growth and coloration. It will be fragging time soon! As long and you heed my warnings on the harness and additional hardware REQUIRED prior to the installation, you will be greatly satisfied with this product. We can still make a great product in the USA.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

I had a 2 bulb T-12 fluorescent setup that I replaced with the 4 bulb T-5’s. Wow! What a difference! The installation instructions were very weak, but installation was easy once I figured everything out. A few internet searches and I was off and running. Total setup only took about 30 - 40 minutes. My live rock has shown signs of new life in only a few days.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Ok, this is great lighting, I have it setup over a 30 gallon display Tank. The lights are about 12 inches over the water and do not add any heat to the tank. And the lights will easily light a room too, LOL. Pretty easy to put together, no screws to mount the endcaps or balast/heat sink. Also it is recomended to put a fan or two to blow air on the bulbs, I am using a couple PC fans and also set one to circulate air on the balast to make sure it stays cool. The lights are super bright and though the bulbs are only 22 inches long they easily put off enough light for a 30 inch long tank.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Have not had a chance to see these in action yet but, quality seems good. I am still in my complete build process. There needs to be some kind of instruction on how to build (spacing requirements and wiring of stand-offs and etc.) them. This would sure speed up the process for someone who has never attempted to retro their own fixture. Not to hard to figure out, but for someone who is not mechanically inclined it would be a struggle.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

I replaced a pair of 250w metal halides on my 58g with four 24" t-5. this was probably the best change I have ever made on this tank. My LPS are open more than ever before and the sps seem to have an increased growth rate. An added bonus is that I no longer have a need for noisy fans. the only negative thing I can say about this kit is the quality of the bulb retaining clips supplied with the reflectors, the screws given do not fit into the clips.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Purchased this retrofit kit a few weeks ago and was happy with what I got and happy with the as-usual fast shipping that marinedepot provides. The kit is easy to wire up (no tools required for the wiring)following the provided diagram. If I Had to choose something to complain about, it would be the fact that they don't provide you with the screws to actually mount the standoffs to your canopy.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.
