ASM protein skimmers deliver when other skimmers fail. ASM harnesses a patented technique of needle wheel technology. Built from top to bottom with high quality scratch resistant extruded PVC tubing and the injection molded plastic acrylic provides you with not only a skimmer that will perform day in and day out, but can withstand the wear and tear of every day use in the reef aquarium. They are made at a lower cost, which will not affect the performance or quality, yet pass the savings on to you. These hand-made protein skimmers are easy to install, simply place inside your sump, plug it in, and adjust the out pipe flow rate. The out pipe on these skimmers is fully adjustable, it is merely a brisk up and down motion to raise and lower the height of the outlet pipe to dial in flow rate precisely with ease and accuracy.
ASM’s come complete with a Sedra pump or G series pump which is modified to create and produce some of the highest amount of bubbles per square inch of water, on the market today. They perform best, when placed directly in your sump.

Customer Service was great when answering questions. what doesn't make since is the lack of instructions for adjustment. but customer service helped with that. but i have bought other items from other companies it must be a trend. The skimmer right at 5 days started producing like it should but now its awesome. i thought my old skimmer did a great job this ASM out does it I have it setting in my sump the water level is level with the adjustment tube bracket. the adjust tube level pulled up level with column and air valve wide open.

Skimmer works fine, however produces a lot of micro bubbles and kinda noisy. I ran mine for about 4 months, and got a Vertex 150 to replace it, no micro bubbles and noise.

Pros:This skimmer rocks. It was easy to set up right out of the box. It is easy to adjust water level with the adjustable pipe. It can be modified but I have chosen to run it stock for awhile to see how well it does. It started producing skim within the first day. Really no break in time. I have a 150 gal reef with a 40 gal sump. the unit sits in the sump well even with its large footprint. Price is good for this skimmer. It does the job it was designed to do
Cons: has some noise from airline some my not like. It doesnt come with anything to cover the inlet so small inverts could get stuck (modification to raise off bottom)should be considered.
I would say that this is worth the money. price 250-375

Great product. My 50 gallon tank does not have a lot of room in the sump. This small footprint did the trick. The pump is buried under the unit. Nice design. It works perfectly. For the price this was a great value.

This is our second ASM Skimmer. We had a smaller model which was too small for our upsized tank that we had previously used on a smaller tank. We did not hesitate to buy a G4 Plus. It was easy to adjust, and we were skimming in minutes. Just follow the instructions, which will have you start the pipe higher than you might think. As the unit runs in, the pipe will end up being a bit lower. I will also note that at one point we thought our smaller ASM had a problem, it leaked skimate from the lid, no matter how dry we made it. Turns out it was just too small for the additional bio load we gave it, and the bubbles did not break down in the catch chamber: the moral of the story?, don't undersize your skimmer. . .

Works great but for novices they need to know that it takes a few days to actually start skimming junk from the tank. Also there are no instructions at all which is ridiculous. The bad part: the pump is terribly loud.

At Feather River College we utilize the ASM G4+ for our 240 reef display. Its construction is solid, simple and provides great value. In these tough economic times getting the best bang for the buck is what it is all about. This skimmer quickly set to work on removing built up organics. It also began removing small particulates that were flushed out of the refugium that clouded the tank. There is no need to spend money for a name spend it on something that gets the job done.
