Could be better

The functionality with dimmable T5 tubes is what I was attracted to. The fixture permits setting eight different fix points for each of the 4 and 2 bulbs independently, so that daily intensity curves can be modeled quite accurately. This works very well, and is a major step forward in providing natural habitats.
Programming the rest of the features is rather simple with a five button interface.
The built-in fans are reasonably quiet. I have not had in on during peak summer times in southern California, so will see how it works then.
HOWEVER: The the control panel of the unit was poorly mounted in the case, so that the the menu-options were scrolling by on their own. Not the precision crafting that one would expect from a German product. Unfortunately, I needed the product now so did not return it. After some fiddling, I got it sort of to work. [minus 1 star]
After a power outage, the timer resets to its default time, so the day-night cycle is no longer in line with actual time. This in contrast to the Digital Aquatics HerpKeeper system, which I use for the rest of my controls. I will now have to put the ATI fixture on a UPS. [minus 1 star]
