American Marine PINPOINT High-Precision pH Calibration Fluids

These come in single-use plastic envelope packets, and they are extremely accurate and field portable. Each packet contains enough fluid for a complete calibration (about 30 ml) and is intended to be discarded after use. pH monitor and controllers should be calibrated monthly.

American Marine was founded in 1989 by a devoted aquaculturist who was passionate about quality and precision. Back in the late 80s, critical water quality parameters were mostly tested with colorimetric test kits. Some digital instruments were borrowed from university or laboratory sources with mixed results but always a high price tag. Expensive European aquarium equipment was always a disappointment when it finally arrived. Inexpensive "pens" gave no better results than color test kits and prematurely failed even when testing for approximate readings.

Pinpoint pH Calibration fluid

Comments: If you use the Pinpoint pH monitor you need to calibrate the probe and meter with two fluids. The fluids are high quality lab tested liquids with precise pH levels. You adjust the meter to read what these liquids are labeled. The liquids are not outrageously priced so I have no complaints about them.

great PH monitor

Comments: excellent tool to have if you owned a saltwater aquarium. I had so much trouble trying to figure out my PH before using an API kit and until I put fishes in the tank I did not know that my test kit was totally provinding me the wrong information. Out of five cromis two died almost within the first 24 hours after introduced to the tank, so at that point, I figured I had a problem with my reading. I took a sample of water to my local LPS and my PH was only 7.2 but my reading with the API test was 8.5. With the PH monitor I know that now my PH is being monitored correctly.

Comments: Is this fluid's ph correct? According to my probe after calibration, my ph is low - ranging from 7.6 - 7.8. American Marine states I calibrated it correctly and the probe is correct. Further, ph color kits are wrong and in fact most reefs run in that low range. My LFS which sells me the kalkwasser I use to boost this says probes are not correct and to trust the ph color kits. Probes are only good in their opinion to get an idea how much your ph is changing - but to not trust the actual readout. I have no way personally to verify if the fluid is correct. Likewise, I have no way to verify if my probe is operating correctly; American Marine seems to think so. I am confused.
