I purchased this unit after 2 months of reviews and searches. I utilize mine to cool a 20 gal resevoir for indoor hydroponics. Some said it was too small to do any good but this little work horse showed them all. I use a 100watt halide in a 5x5 tent and the resevoir gets up to 85deg. F I was hopping to atleast get it down to 69 or so.....after I ordered it a experienced guy said that this would not work at all that I needed at least a 1.2 HP unit. Well I got it fast in great condition it set up in 10 minutes and I ran it full on chill mode at 59degree setting, in three hours it chilled the water to a constant 63.0 Now it is set at 64 and the water runs 66-66.5 all day long. YES it works well and its quite, I did notice as in the reviews here before mine that most people noticed if you want the water say 70 for example the unit needs to be set 2 degree's lower than the wanted out come. I would reccomend this to friends with simular or less needs than mine! Also I bookmarked the page for the sale price and next month I went to check out and the price was way higher it had changed overnight so the lady gave me the sale price from the day before THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

This was pretty much what I've been waiting for, for quite a long time. A compact, reasonably priced chiller for my 60gal setup. PRO: affordable, effective, installation and setup were a breeze. It keeps my tank right around 80 degrees without much effort. CON: Weak internal fan. The internal fan barely pushes air through the radiator (on the upside, this makes it quiet). An external fan was needed to clear hot air from around the chiller. If you are able to give the recommended 20 sq ft, or so of free space, this may be less of an issue (but seriously, does anyone have that much room to dedicate to a chiller?).
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

I am a newby to the world of aquariums. This is a very good product. It took my 46 gallon 85 degree tank down to 78 degrees in a matter of an hour and a half. For those like me remember to buy clear hose and a powerhead to push the water through the chiller. It is a perfect chiller for me. Thanks.

2 months in and the thermostat is busted.Getting 104 degree readings all of a sudden while the tank is 77 so had to readjust the setting to like 100 to maintain 77 or 78.Sending it back.Hopefully the replacement will remedy the issue.

this is a great small chiller as far as i can see. i've had this setup for a couple of months now and i've noticed that it's a quiet yet powerful chiller. i have a 34 gallon red sea and the temp it generates is just 1-2 degrees off. it's practically accurate. The negative part about some chillers is that you cannot get extra coupling or fittings if you decide to replace your pump to a more powerful pump.

I have a Red Sea Max with a small sump. Total water volume is about 40 gal. Ever since I added the sump with the two MAG pumps I had problems with the temps hitting 80 degrees so I decided to get a chiller. Several people recommended this model or a similar one from JBL. After running it for two months now I can say the following: 1. Nice design and seems well constructed. 2. Relatively quiet for a chiller... noting that no chiller is ever really "quiet". 3. Maintains water temp within 1 degree of where you set it. 4. Has a dual-stage controller so you can plug your heater into it and have it control your heater as well. Now the down side... 1. Only came with 1/2" Inlets / Outlets. Most chillers in this range come with 1/2" and 3/4" 2. There is no way you can put 500 GPH through this chiller... or anything close to that. Maybe 300 GPH max. 3. Takes about 20 minutes of running to drop the temperature 1 degree. They say it can service a 60 gallon tank. I think a 40 gallon would be the most. This may impact longevity. If you can live with its limitations then I would recommend this chiller.

I have a 24 gallon Aquapod and was having some serious issues with heat (even using the PC stock bulbs). I knew i was switching to Metal Halides and heat would be even more of an issue so I set about looking for an appropriately sized/priced chiller. The 1/13 met all the criteria. It works fantastic right out of the box and installation and set was very simple. Within less than one hour it dropped by tank temp 5 degrees where it remained comfortably at 80 degrees without trouble or complaint. It has some noise to it (like miniture refrigerator) but it is not distracting and certainly not something that I would complain about in light of the obvious benefit of not having a spa for my coral.

It lower the temp of my 29G Biocube from 82 to 77. The noisy and ugly fans couldn't keep the temp down b/c of the 150W HID. This chiller does the job with occasional runs. It is very quite. The small foot print makes it easy to hide. Great chiller. I'm very happy with it.

I put this on my new Solana 34g nano reef tank. I replaced the stock Solana return pump with a Mag 5 pump, in the third chamber in the back. I removed the stock Solana topoff bottles. I ran the output from the Mag 5 pump to the input on the chiller, which is sitting on the floor next to my Solana. The output from the chiller, is routed to the original return in the third chamber of the Solana. With my MH lighting, my tank gets a little hot but when the chiller kicks on, it only runs for a few minutes and brings the temp down nicely. The chiller is really quiet, only about as loud as a small dorm room refridgerator, which isnt noisy at all. Works great.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

I use this on my 75gal acrylic aquarium. Initially I wasn't sure it would be enough "chill" but I only needed to go down about 5 degrees. Tank was just running a little too hot. Worked great. Holds a steady 78 degrees with nor problem. Actually brought my tank down from 84 to 78 within 45 minutes. Easy hook up. I just hooked it on a Y with my UV sterilizer...

I have a 40 gallon breeder that seemed to go up to 85 degrees in the summer so I bought this little charm. So far it runs for a total of an hour a day and still keeps my tank a 75.5 to 77!

I've only been using this for about a week on my 28g JBJ Nanocube HQI. My Jager thermometer hooks in to the AC unit, which monitors the temp as the pump circulates water through it. I used to get about 3 degree fluctuations every day and now it stays within 0.5 degrees at 78F. I think this will be exactly what I need. I have the whole setup in my office and this machine is very quiet. I use in the JBJ HQI stand that has the vents for chiller use. Other information I would have liked to know: it will work with the JBJ chiller hookup kit, but you will need some extra o-clamps, which I think should have been included in the hookup kit - but that's a different review. I chose this because it still uses a titanium chiller system, has slightly higher horsepower, has a digital control and was at the time slightly cheaper than other chillers at this size range. The only question left is how long it will work for.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.
