Great Upgrade from Sol Blue

I love these lights. Coming from 3 channels to 7 channels makes all the difference. I also like the 80 degree optics and the frosted lens covers. The spread is much better than the 40/70 optics on the Sol Blues, with no hot spots. I have two on a 46 gallon bowfront perpendicular to the front, about 7" above the water line. AI has changed the legs for the mounting rails, which set the lights about 4" higher than the original legs which had the units only about 3 inches from the water. I'm sure a lot of users were complaining about this. Definitely recommend these lights (and the new legs), especially for anyone putting them in a canopy. With these lights I have control over the entire spectrum. Good job AI!

The hydra twenty six is a well made product for it size.It is light wait and compact and quite. I have a 240 gallon tank and I need 3 hydra for the right coverage but only have 2 but they work grate.I have them mounted above my tank.my tank is 28h x 24d x 72 when I look at the depth the light come to the bottom and cross over from left to right with the dead spot in the middle that why I need the third one ( marine depot that 3 one would make a nice Christmas gift from you to me) I have the hydra hooked up to my Apex system and I'm loving it.

i guess the only thing that was not "cool" with the product was the fact of no instructions being sent with the product. A few online search's latter and I am all set!
So far so good, just trying to see what light looks the best for me.

This lighting system is perfect. The wireless controller accessory is a must. (I never write product reviews, but I had to for this one).
I have a 29 gallon cube aquarium, and it's more than enough. A bigger aquarium may need the FiftyTwo.
It is good to experiment with the colors. I turn the white down to around 60%, and the blues up to around 90%. I leave the other colors around 70-80%. It looks amazing.
My previous lighting system was the Kessil Tuna Blue A350. (They are the exact same price). The Hydra Twenty Six is superior, I could not go back. The color of the light just looks way more pleasing, and there are limitless options to customize it. As far as I have read, corals grow very well under multi-color LED systems like this, although I haven't had enough time with it to report growth. The corals (and everything in the tank) certainly look better under these lights, which is important too.
The saving grace of the Kessil is the single point source, which gives very strong, crisp refraction lines if you have surface agitation. It gives it a very ocean-looking effect, which is super cool. You do get decent lines with the hydra twenty six, but not the sharp, crisp ones that the Kessil can deliver.
I have also had experience with the older hydra from AI. The TwentySix and FiftyTwo are enormously better, I wouldn't recommend the older version.
Although the functions are by far the most important part, I would also add that the build quality of the hydra is impressive. My Kessil came apart within a week and I had to solder it back together. Most people probably don't have this experience, of course. But if you dropped the Kessil, it would basically shatter. I'd be more worried about my floor than my light if I dropped the hydra. It's a brick.

You can control these with ease. Everything from sunrise, storms with lightning...and even moonlight.
I think my reef has never looked so so well...in the 25 plus yrs ive been in the hobby...I have always said...if i cannot be somewhere in the worlds oceans..i want a reef at home.

Awesome Light and works fantastic with the Director unit. Covers my Nano cube perfectly and will also be powerful enough when I upgrade to my 100g. I'll just be adding a 2nd unit for coverage at that point.
