AquaMaxx

The latest AquaMaxx ConeS HOB Hang-On-Back Protein Skimmer takes all of the great features of the ConeS CO-1 skimmer and adapts them to a hang-on-back version. Now, you can get all the great performance of the ConeS CO-1 skimmer without needing a sump. It is rated up to 175 gallons in a design compact enough to be placed on a small or medium-size saltwater aquarium.

Conical Diffusers
AquaMaxx ConeS HOB Hang-On-Back Protein Skimmer efficiently remove organic waste from aquarium water. With an advance bubble chamber design that features numerous conical diffusers, the turbulence in the reaction chamber is reduced and a stable laminar flow is achieved to maximize efficiency and performance.

Achieve a Stable Laminar Flow and Maximize Efficiency!
In conjunction with the innovative bubble chamber, a powerful needle wheel pump generates optimally-sized air bubbles that force protein, waste and other materials through the hybrid cone body and into a collection cup for easy removal.

Computer-precision engineered and outfit with the latest filtration technology, AquaMaxx protein skimmers are engineered to deliver the performance and value you are looking for in a skimmer.

AquaMaxx Skimmers are built using a brilliantly polished cell-cast acrylic. They incorporate the high-end features hardcore hobbyists demand at a price everyone can afford. The ConeS Series is equipped with advanced bubble chambers, hybrid-cone bodies, air silencers and needle wheel impellers for maximum performance, efficiency and whisper quiet operation.

High Performance
AquaMaxx ConeS Skimmers feature high-quality Italian-made Sicce pumps. Each Sicce pump motor block is then modified and fitted with proprietary AquaMaxx needle wheel impellers. With the precise modifications and upgrades, performance is boosted much beyond that of a stock pump. The upgraded AquaMaxx ‘Shark’ pump is capable of drawing in significantly more air and chops them up to the optimum bubble size for protein extraction. These pump and protein skimmer combinations deliver unprecedented performance and reliability. Accumulated protein and organics will be vigorously removed from your tank so you can focus less on maintenance and more on enjoying your piece of the reef.

Superior Design
The AquaMaxx ConeS HOB Hang-On-Back Protein Skimmer is designed from the ground up with the hobbyist in mind. A built-in air intake silencer reduces noise for near-silent operation. The hybrid-cone design maximizes the size of the reaction chamber and to allow the skimmate to smoothly rise into the collection cup. The advanced Bubble Chamber decreases turbulence and produced a stable laminar flow: which improves bubble transition and boosts skimmer performance.

Ease of Use
AquaMaxx protein skimmers are easy to setup and maintain. To adjust the water level, simply rotate the reaction chamber.

Maintenance is simple. The collection cup can also be easily removed for cleaning with a simple twist. Plus, every AquaMaxx protein skimmer includes a drain fitting for hobbyists who want to setup a separate reservoir for skimmate.

Water quality and consistency is crucial to the success of a marine aquarium. An AquaMaxx protein skimmer will help to ensure that success.

Impressed but had some issues

I like the skimmer, it seems well built and seems to work well, but I've never had a cone skimmer before. The issue i had was that the in and out pipes where to large and stuck out to far to fit with my aqueon versatop hood. I got a local glass shop to cut pieces of the hood out to get it to fit, which i managed to break after, though that bit is no real fault of the skimmer, otherwise seems to be a solid skimmer and is already skimming after only a short time

I am impressed

I am extremely happy with my purchase. The break in period for me was just 14 hours. I have a 20 gallon tank with 7 fish and I felt the need to GO BIGGER on my this purchase. I am glad I chose this skimmer because my water is crystal clear and the polyps on my corals stay open more. I installed the skimmer less than a week ago and I am completely blown away by it's performance. I would definitely recommend this skimmer...It's worth every cent.

VERY Quiet

Was pleasantly surprised just how quiet this skimmer is.. I didn't realize how noisy my old one was! Installation went off without a hitch, this skimmer is a beast, already pulling out gunk. A good investment.

Best hob

Best hob skimmer out there. Have had one for a year and a half. If u have the space for it spend the extra $ over the other 2 aquamaxx hob skimmers. I've owned all 3 and this one is by far the best!

Solid Skimmer

Great skimming action and whisper quite. This is hung outside my sump, under the cabinet. I tried to get fancy and increase the length of the intake to suction from the first sump chamber, I did this by adding my own PVC elbows and pipes, however the pump struggled with the increased distance. After some rigging, I finally got into the plan b position- pulling from the middle chamber and dumping in the return chamber. Immediately, it started skimming dark chunks. After the first day, it mellowed out and foamed very low for the next two days. Day four, it was operating as expected and pulling sticky, smelly goop.

Best skimmer I've owned

This product has shown me how horrible my last skimmer was running easy to put together and install easy to prime started pulling skimate right away pulled 2 cups a day for a week straight and is now pulling a cup a day of some nasty nasty stuff. So thankful to have found this skimmer it's very nice looking for a HOB item as well definitely would buy this product again and again, its very quiet also..

Noisy

I think this model performs the protein skimming function well. However, I dock it one star for the very poor assembly instructions noted by other reviewers. More importantly, I dock it a second star because there is a loud rattling, reverberating noise that I have been unable to eliminate. Does anyone know how to get rid of the rattling noise.

It is a beast

I've had this skimmer on my 50 gallon 3ft mixed reef tank (ricordea, rhodactis, zoas, and lps) for 4 months now and it really is a cone skimmer in HOB style. There's little bio load in my system since there's only the cleanup crew and no fish yet (tang in quarantine soon to be released) but the skimmer has been pulling out dark tea to thick gunk since 1-1 1/2 wks of startup after my tank cycled (dry rock and sand with ammonia and bacteria in bottle). Only complaints so far are that the pump does make an audible hum and is not silent and micro bubbles are still present (probably should stick a sponge into the outlet pipe). In my system it did take 2 wks to really break in probably due to lack of bio load but my parameters (nitrate and phosphate) have been great so far with this skimmer- we'll see what happens when the fish go in but so far I'm impressed. Just make sure you have a lot of space to hang this thing!

This Skimmer is Beautiful

The previous reviewer said his O and C marks are not lined up with the arrows, you have to make sure you install the body of the skimmer with the arrow facing in the correct direction since it with work both ways. As for priming it, I found it pretty straight forward, you just fill it up and turn it on with the air intake pinched closed. Once it's running and broken in it pulls nice chunky dark skimmate.
