AquaMaxx has launched the brand new Q series of ConeS Protein Skimmers!
Q series protein skimmers easily fit in most space-limited installations and supply powerful filtration. Newly designed hybrid-cone body stabilizes and concentrates the organic rich foam as it rises! Micro-adjustable valve provides precise control, and allows cleaned water to exit the skimmer chamber at its base where it is less bubble.
AquaMaxx has a dedicated R&D team with more than 10 years experience designing high-performance, high-quality yet affordable protein skimmers. Moreover, AquaMaxx skimmers are engineered with computer-precision and are outfitted with the latest filtration innovations.
The new ConeS Q-Series protein skimmers are made with new and efficient bubble chambers similar to ones found on our popular ConeS CO-Series. The bubble plate in conjunction with the custom diffusers are designed to efficiently mix air and water. More importantly, random twirling and turbulent flow is eliminated. A stable laminar flow is created inside the skimmer`s reaction chamber and maximizes the efficiency of the skimmer like no other design!
AquaMaxx ConeS Skimmers feature custom Italian-made Sicce pumps with special needle wheel impellers to whip up large amounts of air with optimum bubble size. These pump and protein skimmer combinations deliver unprecedented performance and reliability. Aquarium waste will be vigorously removed from your tank so you can focus less on maintenance and more on enjoying your piece of the reef.
AquaMaxx Cone-Series Protein Skimmers are designed from the ground up with the hobbyist in mind. A built-in air intake silencer reduces noise for near-silent operation. The hybrid-cone design maximizes the size of the reaction chamber and to allow the skimmate to smoothly rise into the collection cup. The advanced Bubble Chamber decreases turbulence and produced a stable laminar flow: which improves bubble transition and boosts skimmer performance.

AquaMaxx is a Southern California-based aquarium supply company that entered the market in mid-2008 with a line of affordable metal halide bulbs. The brand quickly gained recognition as word spread about the high quality and low cost of their lamps. In 2009, AquaMaxx released a line of aquarium filter socks and, in early 2010, unveiled an assortment of high-performance protein skimmer accessories and upgrades.

I have had this running on my 90 gallon reef tank for about 2 weeks now. 7 1/2 inches I think is the perfect depth for this skimmer. It has run very quiet and pulls out twice the amount of gunk that my Vertex skimmer did. Very happy with the purchase so far. I will review this again in a few months after it has completely broken in.

The skimmer worked right out of the box for me. I did clean it in a vinegar bath for 12 hours prior to use. This def speed up break in. I started it in 6 1/4 inches of water, skimmed ok, then dropped it an inch to 7 and its working good now. My first cup was really smelly. That tells me it works well. The build is decent to average I would say. Clean looking but not super tough. The pump is awesome. I run sicci on my returns on two tanks. I trust them. Overall I am only 5 days in and I am satisfied with the performance so far. In 6 months this thing should be killing it. The cup is small. I wish it was bigger. I am concerned about the bubble plate popping off in the future. Seen it happen already on another hobbiest tank. Hope it doesn't on mine.

Picked this skimmer up last week. As far as the hum from the pump goes it is about as silent as my EHEIM 1260 return, but the bubbles are quite loud and theres a loud gurgle sound once every 2 seconds or so from what sounds like some extra air being sucked into the skimmer. Took a few days to break in but its pulling out a LOT of skimmate now, after 4 days the cup is half full and completely black. Time will tell how this skimmer performs but so far it's great!
