Another reviewer said it perfectly: Buy cheap, buy twice. I bought this as a top-off pump in order the save a few bucks. What's wrong with it? Where shall I begin? The cover is so loose that it doesn't even need to be touched to fall off. The tolerances between the roller and the track are so wide that the pump will not move water unless the tubing is in exactly, precisely the right place. But, of course, those same sloppy tolerances mean that the tubing will not STAY in the right place. The tubing fittings on one of the two tubes were improperly molded and would not fit into the pump housing. Aqua Medic should be ashamed and embarrassed to market this shoddy merchandise. Given their spotless reputation, I am surprised that the folks at MarineDepot sell it. I suppose I could have returned the pump to MD but after several days of trying one thing and another, including having it looked at by a mechanical engineer (who simply shook his head), I took great delight in throwing it against the side of my brick house just as hard as I possibly could. Then I ordered a LiterMeter. Which I, of course, should have done to begin with. Trust the people who give this pump 1 and 2-star reviews. It really is poorly designed, poorly manufactured, and essentially useless.
I would not recommend this product to my friends.

best little pump out there! simply plug and play. I have looked all over the internet, and locally (hospital) for a peristaltic pump for my calcium reactor - this is perfect and relatively inexpensive. why did I wait so long to buy it??

Didn't do the job for me

I bought this pump for an auto-top-off system which is run through a Kalk reactor. It worked very well at first, topping my sump off at a very slow rate with saturated kalkwasser. The problem arose when it started siphoning kalkwasser back into my freshwater reservoir after shutting off. This quickly clogged the airline tubing connected to the pump with calcium oxide. Because the pump does not develop very much pressure to begin with, it failed and required constant cleaning. I would not recommend this product for top-off systems run through a Kalk reactor.
I would not recommend this product to my friends.

This is an excellent unit. Has been very reliable for over a year running 4 hrs every 24 hrs for automatic top off throuth a kalc reactor. The roller assembly finally cracked. Replaced it and im back in business. I am very pleased with this unit. The float switch is very precise once set properly and reliability has been excellent.

I wish I had read the reviews. The motor does not have enough power to turn the wheel. After greesing it 5 or 6 times, it still stalls frequently. The cover pops off every time you look at it. What a piece of junk. Marine Depot should drop this product line.
I would not recommend this product to my friends.

I have used mine for about two years know and the tubing does come off time to time and so does the cap also. So to stop the wheel from moving up which cuases the tube to move off track i took the wheel off and glued it on to the shaft. Know the tubing does not ever come off and the cap stayes on plus the nasty noise it makes has almost went away . But the tubing is way to expensive to replace all the time plus it last about two or three months only . its a poor design
I would not recommend this product to my friends.

Comments:
As previous reviewer said, product pictures are not accurate (no big deal) and hose pushes flimsy cover off which stop pumping (very big deal). Also, even after it is thoroughly greased as recommended, the motor barely has enough power to turn the roller assembly, leading to a rather loud grinding more failures to pump, and probably reduced lifetime... I'm going to ask for an exchange for the Tunze system.
I would not recommend this product to my friends.

For me, getting this product to work the first time was a true pain. Despite that I used half of the included grease, the center wheel would not turn at first until I helped it manually a few times, and getting the tubing to stay was also a challenge. Everytime that it starts up, it makes a brief, but unpleasant noise, and sometimes the wheel gets stuck and/or the front cover pops off. However, this unit does deliver small amounts of liquid well when it works like it is supposed to. Maybe it needs additional break-in time, but if the other reviews are correct, I will be searching for another product soon enough.
I would not recommend this product to my friends.

Buy cheap, buy twice.I've had other dosing pumps in the past. Been in/out of the reef hobby for 20+ years. This one is a joke. The tubing immediately starts wearing out. Very hard to keep consistent. And it's like $20-$25 to replace the tubing. And the tubing is hard to find as a lot of LFS's don't carry it. The only LFS I trust has discontinued selling this product due to the amount of problems they had on their maintained client base. MD and other online retailers are frequently out-of-stock.After a couple of weeks, the flow is so dimished you might as well turn the thing off.I considered trying to make my own replacement tubing thru a reputable online fluids and control website (Omega), but decided why throw good money after bad...Oh yeah, did I mention the SP3000 tubing continually crawls out of its channel. And it's loud, very loud.I bit the bullet and bought a SpectraPure Ultra Precise Liquid Level Controller. It is working flawlessy. In fact, the SpectraPure product has worked so well I moved my water container downstairs, starting pushing the H20 thru a kalc reactor, and no longer have to mess with 2-part calcium additives :)The SpectraPure is more expensive to begin with, but you will VERY Quickly spend more on the crappy AM replacement tubing product.I wouldn't recommend the Aqua Medic SP3000 to my worst enemy.
I would not recommend this product to my friends.

I purchased this pump. Like others said the tubing would not stay centered and popped cover off. Tried to re engineer and both tubings have holes now. That's $20 a piece. Will not use on auto top off /Kalk reactor.
I would not recommend this product to my friends.

The float valve is easily held open by magnetic pumps etc...The pump does not prevent syphoning of the entire refill vessel into aquarium. The Sanoprene hoses need to be replaced every few months and are $25; for a piece of hose? Check valves constantly break and hard to find.Expect constant flooding.
I would not recommend this product to my friends.

Did not make it up an elevation of 10 feet, horizontal 20 feet, up another 4 feet to go from a cellar like room to the sump for top off even though said to have a max head of 30 feet. I even tried to prime it.

It was easy to install, it is super quite - I can't even hear it and it is accurate. It keeps my water level the same at all times. My friend has a LeterMeter which works well also, but loud.

Theory is good. All the pictures show a different roller assy. The tubing on mine does not want to stay in place and pushes flimsy cover off. Had to tape in place. Not in centered means no pumping.
