Aqua Medic Turboflotor Hang On Protein Skimmer
Information
AQUAMEDIC TURBOFLOTOR `Multi` HANG ON SKIMMER
State of the art skimmer for marine aquariums 25 to 250 gal. Simple but brilliant in its engineering, this patented needle wheel skimmer produces the ultimate dry foam - absolutely the most advanced skimmer in the world. This is the perfect low maintenance skimmer for serious reef keepers.
Constant flow rates are achieved, thus no adjustments are required. Unique throttle valves allow for the ultimate foam control - even during changes in aquarium bioloading.
The PH 2500 pump running the skimmer is energy efficient and produces less heat transfer than larger pumps on similar skimmers.
The Turboflotor "Multi" hangs off the back of your aquarium. It can also hang off the side of your sump for an under tank installation. No airstones, venturi or other complex bubble producing methods can match its efficiency and effectiveness.
Turboflotor T1000 Hang On: Please allow at least 10" of depth behind tank for proper installation.

Instruction booklet left a little to be desired. Had to basically put the skimmer together via the 'exploded' part diagram versus having any text to follow.. Im skimming and happy, however, I do have lots of little parts left over - that just seem like extras for different mounting styles.

Overall a good skimmer. It pulls a lot of gunk out of my tank. Kind of big to be a hang on the side skimmer but is a good option if you don't have a sump. Horrible instructions if you are like me and it is your first skimmer. Also sometimes have a hard time getting the pump to start. Once started though it works fine.

I've owned this skimmer for about 2 years, it's currently running a 130g system, light to moderatly stocked. It certainly pulls alot of gunk out, on par with a EuroReef. I think the biggest problem with it is the collection cup, it's simply too small. The skimmer pumps out so much dry skimate that it forces the lid up and dry skim bubbles out with it. There needs to be more room for the bubbles to pop. Turning it up helps of course, but the extra volume of skimate needs to be emptied too frequently, a drain and resevoir isn't an option in my current setup. I wouldnt want to run this hanging on the back over carpet, though I suppose it would be easier to empty like that. It should be noted that I dose BioDigest.
I bought the HOB version because I'm an apartment dweller, and being able to hang this on the side of a tank when I move makes things much easier on me. Worth it for that alone.

This is a great skimmer for the price. Ive used it as a hang on the back and in the sump with good results. This model is far better than the Stand alone. Easy to set up with little to no adujtment. The collection cup is large and requires less frequent cleaning than the Red Sea Berlin. Low price, sound construction and a simple design make this a great first time skimmer.

I purchased the turbofloater multi after buying and returning a seaclone. there is absolutely no comparison; the turbofloater is a dream compared to other skimmer's. I set it up plugged it in and about 8-10 hours later I was skimming with very little adjustment of the outflow controls. You truly do get what you pay for and even though this skimmer was a bit on the pricy end for my budget, it was totally worth it. Awesome product. Germany Engineering is in my house!

Have used many skimmers and I would recommend the Turboflotor series! The documentation is not the best, but this skimmer is meant for both new and experienced in the hobby. All skimmers require some time to adjust and tweak...These guys do deliver...
Unique design...great pump...I added a valve to the Venturi to adjust to my needs...Don't think the Tap Valves are predictable and would not recommend playing with too much...Overflow is no fun! Works as promised..

This skimmer takes a few days to break in, and you will get very wet foam that fills the cup within minutes the first time you start it up. Don't Panic! Just fill it up with tank water and let it sit a couple days. After the break-in of 48 hours, the skimmer started pulling brown, nasty gunk out of the water. It took only a bit of fiddling to get the foam to the perfect consistency. Less than a week later, and the skimmer is preforming like a champ, pulling about a cup of brown gunk out about every 24 hours. Works great! I'm using it as a hang on for my sump/refugium combo, with a 75 gallon display tank and a 45 gallon sump/fuge. Seems to be perfectly sized for the job.

This skimmer works great! It pulled out two full cups in the first hour I had it on on my 46 gallon bowfront which had gone a couple months without a protein skimmer or water change, then it settled down to filling the cup about once every two days. I didn't have to adjust anything relative to the foam production, just the physical arrangement of the skimmer itself.
I had to move my 46 gallon bowfront aquarium a little farther out from the wall than I was expecting - the tube from the pump protrudes fairly far forward, which hits my glass cover, so I have the return cup extended all the way out, causing the skimmer to be hanging as far back from the aquarium as it can hang.
The pump is also louder than my canister filter if I have it pushed against the side of the tank.
