Aqua Medic Turboflotor T1000 Stand Alone Skimmer, no pump. In-Sump Protein Skimmer for aquaria 25 to 250 gal.
The Turboflotor T1000 is a powerful skimmer with a unique plumbing scheme that makes it the smartest little skimmer on the market. Taking advantage of the fact that the surface of your aquarium is where proteins collect naturally, the T1000 is designed to intake the water exiting the overflow of your tank. By delivering the surface skimmed water directly into the reaction chamber of the T1000, efficiency is maximized. If splicing into the drain-line plumbing is not an option in your system, the T1000 can be run from a tee off your main system pump or feed by a secondary pump. The T1000 Stand Alone requires a pump to vigorously re-circulate the volume of the reaction chamber, mixing it with finely chopped air bubbles. The T1000 is designed to be run with a Ocean Runner Pump (sold separately). Also included is a Filter Box with bio balls, which installs on the exit pipes, to shed micro-bubbles and increases your biological capacity. The skimmer itself is entirely Ozone ready; simply replace the vinyl airline with silicone tubing (Ozone safe tubing) to connect the ozone generator to the venturi. Either way you plumb it the Turboflotor T1000 Stand Alone is the best skimmer available in this price range and easily out-performs skimmers costing twice the price.

Just make sure it fits in your skimmer cause it leaks from the top. (you always want your skimmer in the trickle filter just a safe way to go about it if something fails) It is quite large with the pump I have Megaflow model 3 trickle filter i had to make some time consuming modifications. Other than all that i said the Skimmer works great plenty of bubbles the pump is very quiet when submerged. Hope that helped Thx and GL

This is the 3rd skimmer I've owned and it does skim pretty good; however, besides the regular pump that all skimmers take to work, this skimmer requires you to have a second small pump in order to fill the skimmer with water. It pieces also do not fill together tightly and are not the type of pieces that can be clamped. So any slight bump that it takes can separate the pieces and have you fighting to put them back together. All in all I would definitely not buy again. When it comes to skimmers there are many simpler models that skim just as efficiently without the other problems and host of multiple parts that need to be fit together. I gave it 3 stars because it does skim good, but that is all it has going for it.

I like this product. My last skimmer was a CPR backpack on a 36 gallon tank. This one pulls out lots more stuff. Also it is pretty quiet.

I have had this skimmer for about a week, the two adjustment knobs take a little trial and error but after they were adjusted the skimmer is working well and I am starting to see some nasty skim come out of my tank. Also I did try to run this with the Rio 2100 pump and it proved to be ineffective at operating the skimmer so I purchased the OceanRunner 2700 pump and it is now working great.

Turboflotor is a good little skimmer but the Stand Alone model is hard to set up and requires an additional pump. Also this model comes with a Rio water pump that is lower quality. Save your self the trouble and get the Hang-on model with the better pump even if its going in a sump! I've use both models on a 90 gallon reef.

This is one of the BEST (For the Price) skimmers I have used. The Skimmer collection cup came craked. I called
the 800 number for MarineDepot toaled with them and with in a week got a new cup.
NAVITIVE The only draw back is.That if you do not install a return feed line from the overflow to the pump supplied. You must supply a pump for sump to run this monster.
All in all its a Great Skimmer.

I bought one of these 3 years ago, and it's still going. I originally used it hang-on, but later put it in sump. I think it works even better in sump. It's the great skimmer nobody ever talks about.

It took a couple of days until it started to work right but now it is doing an awsome job. The collection cup has to be emptied every other days and it contins a brown disgusting liquid. I never thought the water in my tank was so dirty.

this thing has only ran for about 10 hrs. now and already removing stuff that looks like mud,I didn't think my water had that much gunk in it,its crystal clear.I have 2 120gal. tanks plumbed together into 1 sump through 2 skimmer boxes teed together and taped into the overflow to feed this thing,it works great.you cant hear the pump run but you can hear the water flow a bit sounds like a stream trickle very calming.
