Excellent!
300 watt on 125 gallon tank by fisher
Experience Level: Intermediate
Posted on 3/17/2010 from MILTON, FL UNITED STATES
Comments: I was planning to have the 300 watt as well as a lower watt heater for my 125 gallon. I ordered the 300 watt first just to check it out. It had my aquarium in the green zone on my thermometer within 12 hours and the temperature has remained consistant. I decided not to order another heater to avoid clutter since this one is doing so well. I imagine it may be running more often to maintain the temperature in my aquarium being since it's 125 gallons, but it doesn't appear to be running all that often. I'm very satisfied with it and have it connected to the "out take" tube of my Rena XP4 canister filter. I've had it nearly a month and have had no problems.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: Cool looking heater - not as big of an eye sore as glass ones. Holds temp well and is accurate. Adjustment wheel is a hard to turn. Overall its a keeper.

Comments: Appears solid and heater keeps my water temperature very consistent. It is thicker than the average heater. It will not fit in the heater compartment of my Red Sea Max 130d so it is sitting in the skimmer chamber. The LED warning light is great.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Best heaters!! by STEVE CARROLL

Comments: Forget the tatianium heaters, these have proven much better for me. I have 5 of the RENAs and I am slowly replacing all my old heaters with them. They are almost indestructible, will not burn you if you pick it up while plugged in and will not shatter if you forget to unplug it and take it out of the water. These are the most accurate and consistent temperature wise and do not use points which fail like most other heaters. Some of my small fish(bi-color blenny) enjoy hidding inside them and my neon gobies have spawned inside one. The only downside is crabs can ger trapped inside them.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Great but scary by DILLON

Comments: This is a great heater. It stays at the exact temp you set it for but the only downside, I found out this morning, was one of our little clown fish was stuck in the bottom intake part. We don't have the filter it fits on so there is an open hole at the top. It freaked me out because he could fit through the top hole and fall to the bottom. If you have smaller fish, you'll have to come up with a contraption that fits over the top so this doesn't happen to one of your little guys. It was a terrifying experience. Other than that one thing, this is an amazing product. I'm glad I got it. it heats effectively.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Steadfast Heater by LIANNE
Experience Level: Intermediate
Posted on 11/9/2009 from DALLAS, TX UNITED STATES
Comments: In using this brand now for almost two years now, I have found it to be accurate and sensitive in holding the temperature in my reef tank. This is in comparison to other brands of a similar price, which I found do not reliably hold temperature for marine fish or matching new saltwater to the tank. In addition to its sturdy construction, I also like that the LED alert allows one to see from a distance if the heater is heating.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Nice heater by Jim G

Comments: I bought 2 of these for curing live rock. One never varied by more than a degree, as advertised. The 2nd one seemed to vary a little more, maybe up to 2 degrees. Overall though, a nice heater. While being wider than most heaters, it is also shorter which allows me to put it in the first chamber of my Biocube 29 without having to remove the divider between the top and bottom halves.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Awesome heater by ReefFiend

Comments: This thing is solid as a rock. I have a 150 watt in my 28 gallon bowfront - i went up one so that it could handle the temp changes quickly. I set it at 78 and it holds it steady at 77/77.5. The LED is awesome and it is hardly noticeable. Only problem is that it has a fairly big footprint.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

RENA SmartHeater by ROBERT KRYSTYNIAK

Comments: This heater has been doing an excellent job for me so far (2+ months). I like to keep my house pretty cool so that I don't run up a huge gas bill. The air temperature is around 60-63 degrees and this heater has kept my tank water at its set value without any noticeable variance. I have it operating standalone (not with filter) and I have my thermometer on the opposite side of the tank. I have this configuration because if the thermometer is showing the proper temperature on the opposite side, then the heat distribution must be fairly even. I also want to point out that even if this thing is running, you can touch it, clean it, whatever, and you won't get burned. Great product, great design.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: This heater is the best heater I have ever used. Period. Doesn't get hot to the touch, and keeps my 80 Gal at a constant 81 deg. The indicator light is easy to see but not obnoxious like other filters. Doesn't come dislodged and is aesthetically pleasing. A solid buy.

Comments: Excellent heater. Flexible plastic shell is a way better construction material than any glass heater I've owned. Fits well inside my JBJ 12g deluxe despite being more bulky than I anticipated.

Sturdy heater, even temp by JM
Experience Level: Intermediate
Posted on 6/1/2009
Comments: This keeps my tank far more evenly heated than any normal submersible heater. I also like that it's black and easier on the eyes than the standard sky blue intake that came standard with my Rena filter. The unit seems very well built, and sturdy. I liked the oversize suction cups, they actually worked (I've had trouble with other brands having less than adequate suction cups). So far I am very pleased.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I purchased this 100 watt heater for my 28g nano. It said will do up to 35 gallon. The temp in the cellar is on the cool side 65+ degs. I was told I need to buy a bigger watt heater. It will keep the water at 75 or a little lower but only if I put it up on 81+.... and then the light won't stay on very long. I was told the heater is working properly.
I would not recommend this product to my friends.

Excellent Design by ZACHARY NICKEY

Comments: While these heaters are a bit on the chunky size, they are fantastic systems. They are accurate, use lights to let you know the system is running well, has a very accurate and simple temperature control, and these heaters will heat more water then other heaters of the same wattage. It is also important to note that these heaters are designed that fish cannot burn themselves (built in heater guard system)...for catfish, corydoras, and pleco owners, this makes these heaters worth their weight in gold as they can save a lot of problems. Overall, another A+ design!

real nice by JASON SMITH

Posted on 10/18/2008 from YPSILANTI, MI UNITED STATES
Comments: This is, in my mind, the best possible design for a heater, especially when integrated with the intake system of a RENA filter. It never misses a beat and maintains a very close tolerance temperature differential, even when the outside temperature is much Much lower than the desired water temperature. One cold fall night I left the window open, where the temperature in my room dropped to about 60 (or even lower!) and the 150 kept my 40 breeder ata steady 80 degrees (mine is integrated with the intake of a Rena XP2 canister filter-may have different results when standing alone, but still is the most efficient design if you have good circulation). It looks great and its bullet-proof construction ensures it would still work if a semi ran over your aquarium. Great. Tts smart too. I would definitely recommend this to anyone, serious aquarists included. Rena is at the top of their game, and not just their heaters.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Great Product by JESSICA SERRANO

Comments: This is my first salt water setup, i have a 46 gallon bow front with numerous marine fish that all require greta water quality and stable water temp. with so many heaters it was a tough decision. but with the rena smart heater not only does it heat the water and keep it at the set temp, it also acts as a warning device to let you know when your temp is +/- 5 degrees off. so it lets you know early so you can rectify the situation before you have expensive casualties. My first heater and will be my last.

Comments: After trying 2 other heaters (very expensive and relatively cheap), this RENA heater is awesome. It's too bulky for a sump crowded with a skimmer, etc., but is almost invisible in the tank anyway. I love the indicator light and the temp sensor seems right on.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: It is neat how it attaches to the Rena canister filter. It saves space having only one item in your aquarium. The weather is a little too warm for the heater to come on, but the alert light does come on because it is 1 degree over the heater temp.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

So far so good by Omar Khatib

Posted on 5/6/2008 from WHEELING, IL UNITED STATES
Comments: I like the look of this heater and love the fact that I replaces the RENA blue intake. It is a little bulky and the red light is huge but I think it is growing on me. It is very easy to see and it not only tells you when it is heating, it blinks fast if the temp gets to be >5 degrees above the set temp and slow when it is >5 degrees lower. As for heating the tank it is working great on my 90 gallon marine tank. Time will always tell with heaters (its only been installed for a few days), but so far so good.

Comments: This is one of the best heaters I've ever used. The temp settings are accurate. The led light works great. Let's you know that it is on, also if it is too cold or too hot. If you have a rena system this is a must have. I'm not using a rena system so it still works great. I also love how it is black which blends with my black background tank. I like this more then the Jager heaters.

Comments: I was skeptical due to the price at first. Now that I'm using one i see it was well worth the cost. It takes the place of the Rena Filter intake and so eliminates one peice of equipment in the tank. It's also very accurate and heats very quickly. The LED light is a must for any heater to let you know it's working. Very good product and well worth the money.
