I bought the 48" lamp. I bought this lamp because of the timers you can set for sunrise and sunset options. It worked great when I bought in 2012. Within the first year the timer went out and the company sent out a new one with easy self repair options and worked fine until this month the ballast is not properly working. Once again their customer service is prompt in a response and currently working on fixing the problem. While it worked, my fish were very happy with it and my coral even spawned once as the lunar lights simulate the moon to help re-populate. Hoping to resolve this issue soon so my fish aren't shocked to the bright wake up call. Greatful for their lifetime warrantee.

Not bad, but not great

Some nice features are being able to program the lightning schedule into the light. One problem is the legs are very difficult to affix. If heat is an issue and you struggle with leg attachment you might have problem. There are likely many LED solutions for this price without the issues.

I think it'll be nice!

I think the light will be nice... it provides excellent light and the ability to independently control the zones. Unfortunately, my light came defective. One of the fans is making an awful noise. I tried to remove the top access panel which the video on the manufacture's website claims to be a simple task to provide easy access to consumer replaceable parts (e.g. fans) however the video specific to my model is not accurate. The top panel now is tongue and groove and doesn't simple lift off as depicted in the video. Needless to say, I aborted mission and called Marine Depot for a replacement. They are amazing and no questions asked sent a new replacement.

Terrific Product

First, the packaging of this fragile product was outstanding! Then, putting it together was a snap. The pre-programmed lighting timer is great to have. And the lights...wow! I am seeing colors, polyps, all kinds of things that I could never see before! I could not spend a fortune, and I didn't have to! Thanks, MarineDepot!

Awesome Fixture!

I have 100 gallon reef tank and it's hard to find T5 fixtures that are 60" long. I found this one here on marine depot and decided to order it. I knew though that the bulbs themselves were only 48" bulbs, however I do wish the reflectors were 60" long. That being said it produces an awesome spectrum and the nighttime LED's are super bright! The only reason I'm not giving this 5 stars is because of the legs, they are kinda cheaply made

I have to say that after doing my research I am happy that I chose the Aquatic Life T5 HO 72"light fixture. It was just like the reviews that I read. It was as simple as unpacking plugging in and bang. They could have put a manual in there to install the legs it was a little confusing but simple once you figured it out. They actually slide right on the grooves on the edge of the light fixture. On the shipping I actually called late afternoon and the guy said I had missed the orderd to go out that day. Well a couple hours later I got a email saying my order has been shipped. Orderd Wednesday afternoon received Friday mid morning. The timer seems easy to use it is in military time though but do able. I think I will change out the bulbs though to get a more bluefish like color. They should let you purchase the bulbs that you want to come with it. Overall I am pleased with it and would recommend it to anyone looking for one. Would be a 5 if it weren't for the little things I mentioned. Go for it!

Great at First - Bad at Age

The main problem with this light is the protection from moisture that eventually killed my timer. There is no gasket protecting the circuit of the timer from moisture. As I found out, AquaticLife will not cover it unless you have a glass lid under the light. It is a flawed product. No customer Service.

Great fixture! 1 year review

I bought the 72 inch unit. I would like to start off by saying, for the money, you cannot beat this fixture. Automatic timers have worked great. Alot of positives with this.. I will not go to any other type of lighting after buying this. It did arrive with 1 bulb that was bad.. MarineDepot was outstanding on replacing this for me free of charge. One thing I can say.. the LED's at night tend to be a bit off.. a couple have flickered within a month or 2, but it really hasn't bothered me too much.. They are extremely bright at night, however! Another thing is.. I've learned that the choice of bulbs is about as important as the fixture itself.. if not more important. If your looking for something that makes your fish and corals look a little more colorful.. maybe going between a 12K and 14K, do yourself a favor and upgrade the bulbs.. it cost me $160 to do that, but in the end... I wanted better quality bulbs.. google ATI T5 bulbs.. you will not find a better quality bulb ... I found that my tank looked about 10X better atleast with a slight blut tint.. and no yellow. Corals also started to come out more. On my 6' fixture, I went with 4 ATI Aquablue Specials,2 ATI blue plus, and 2 ATI coral plus.. so I get something between 12-14K.. .

Bulbs sub-par

I received this unit several months before before actually beginning to use it. Upon initial arrival, I assembled and checked the operation to verify the unit was operating as promised. It was then stored in a dry location at constant room temperature and was not exposed to any kind of movement. I was finally able to set up my new 80 gallon tank last month, and began using the light fixture a week ago Day 2 showed a problem with the light. Now that I have been able to devote time for trouble-shooting today, I find that the 14K tube has indeed failed. We've all seen how flourescent tubes get burned at the end as they begin to fail, well that's what I've got here. But not just on the 14K, but BOTH 420/460 tubes have the same signs of failure. At least the "purple" tube appears as it should. And I'm not kidding, the tube is labeled "purple". I would not be surprised in the slightest if there is a ballast issue going on too, but only time will tell. And judging from the previous failure, that won't be long. On the plus side, the LEDs seem to be working correctly. And it is a very sleek looking unit, but that alone doesn't warrant the high price of this fixture. I desired a quality unit that would give years of trouble-free service. I wouldn't have bothered with the trouble to rate and review if I had only gotten many months of trouble-free service. But damn, I didn't even get several days of trouble-free service. I can't and wouldn't recommend this light fixture to friends.
