This AquaticLife T5 Freshwater Fixture is built well and looks really nice. It's silent and doesn't get hot. Last week I was in a pinch and needed a 24'' fixture ASAP and went to my LFS and bought a Coralife T5 because that was all they had in stock. They did switch out the bulbs for me and I took it home. Sorry I did that because the AquaticLife T5 fixture is hands down a much better unit. So if all you need is a straight forward on and off T5 fixture for your set up you can't go wrong with this version ( in any size ) AquaticLife T5 Fixture.

I have been running this light on my 40g breeder now for just over 2 months and have had great results with plant growth and overall display. I will say that this product would have received a 5 if it had stronger leg construction, because they are pretty flimsy and I have had one break Overall this fixture has performed great and I would recommend this product to anyone searching for a fixture that provides great lighting with individual reflectors and good bulbs. I would also really appreciated the packaging it came in with everything being so secure.

I purchased this light to use on planted 40 gallon aquarium. I have had two other fixtures in the same price range and this one seems to be the best. Especially when you consider it comes with bulbs. The 6,000k bulb is perfect but the roseate bulb will take some getting used to. I will probably get a different bulb the next time they need to be changed. One thing I did not like about the light is the mounting legs and the bulbs are kind of difficult to get to. This is because, to access them, you have to disassemble part of the light. To move the acrylic splash guard, you have to remove 4 screws from the end plate and then 3 more on another piece of metal. You also have to do this to attach the mounting legs. I don't have any light meters to get any par readings, but comparing it to my other T5 HO lights on other tanks I would say the Aquatic Life is definitely brighter and I believe this is because of the individual light reflectors. I ultimately choose this light because it was the best deal when you consider the included bulbs. The light seems of high quality.

Too many little screws to take off the end cap and legs are a pain to install.
T5 bulbs of any length are very fragile.
My 36" fixture came with a broken T5 bulb.
It did not start with the one good bulb and I returned the fixture.
This fixture does not have a timer to automatically start and shut off.
I expected better and would not recommend this product.

This light once assembled works great, and brings excellent definition to the inside of the tank. This is my third light by AquaticLife, and the other two have worked flawlessly. The only problem that I have encountered is the leg assembly. AquaticLife lights have a track on each side of the light for the legs. Each leg attaches to a bracket that travels in the track and is made stable by a screw. The screw wouldn't go into the bracket far enough to stabilize the leg in the correct position. The cause of this problem was in the amount of paint that covered the taped screw hole in the bracket. Either you had a choice of trying to run a tap down through the bracket hole to remove the paint, or try to run the screw through this hole and hope that the screw wouldn't break in half in the bracket. I decided to try the latter, but it added an hour to the assembly of the light. After this problem I have had another problem with the light.
