Comments: This is way better than the Rio that my Bak-pak came with. It produces alot more flow and bubble produsing more skim removed from my tank. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: The original pump from my original (1998?) CPR back pak finally went out (Rio 600). So, I decided to take the plunge with this new, upgraded and recommended by CPR pump. The pump seems well made, and looks to pump a fair amount of water. The CPR version has been obviously modified from the retail version, with the air inlet added. It includes a very short (useless) piece of tubing and an air muffler. Installation went OK once I had new vinyl tubing (home depot) to attach it to the CPR. In comparing it to the old Rio 600 (with bubble recirc) it is not nearly as good at actually producing skimate. It pulls barely any air, and makes far less bubbles than the very aged Rio 600 did. Additionally, I agree that it moves too much water for the CPR. The good: - It is not really "quieter" than the Rio, but it has a lower pitch, and is less annoying or invasive sounding. - Seems well-made, and pumps water like it should. The bad: - Pulls only about 1/2 as much air, and therefore makes far less bubbles, than the old Rio did. - Is only about 25% likely to actually pull air (and make bubbles) on any given startup. Using it with a timer is impossible, as at least 75% of the time it does not pull any air until it is restarted several times. This is an obvious design flaw, and a show stopper for me. - It's bigger, and barely fits inside the (usless) surface skimmer box. - The cord is much shorter than the Rio. All in all, I recommend sticking with the Rio or a Maxi-Jet and avoiding this pump. CPR needs to better engineer the air inlet (venturi) and make it actually work reliably. In over a week of running 24/7 on my 55 reef (that was skimmerless for 2 weeks prior) it has pulled only 1/4 cup of skimate. Old Rio would have pulled 2-3c by now. I would not recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: Replaced an old Maxi Jet 1200 with this accela pump. It's a little louder than the Maxi but that seems to be because you don't have close down the air valve (which is were the noise comes from) to get the skimmer to fill with bubbles and achieve good skimming. You can leave the air valve wide open and get twice as many bubbles and twice the filtering. Used to empty the collection cup ever four days, now I have to empty it every other day. Great upgrade. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: THIS PUMP IS TERRIBLE, VERY VERY LOUD AND THE FLOW RATE IS WAY TO FAST FOR THE CPR BAK PAK SKIMMER........ I would not recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I plugged it in right out of the box and noticed a big difference in the amout of skimmate that was pulled out. I would recommend this pump "upgrade" to all bak pak owners. I did not get any micro bubbles back into the tank so no need for the bubble trap. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: This pump appears to out function the Rio 600 that came with my Bak-Pak protein skimmer. Also being a retired toolmaker/mold-maker the plastic core-work in the impeller area is far more superior than the 600 in my opinion. No comparison. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: Bought the Accela to replace the Rio pump. It took me a few days to get it adjusted correctly but now it is working great. It is more powerful and collecting more waste. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I got the accella pump for my CPR BakPak 2R plus, and it is too powerful. I think that the pump would work much better if there was a flow control. Right now the flow is too strong and is adding a bunch of microbubbles to the tank. I would not recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: Just spent a whopping 3' minutes replacing the previous pump with this one. Seems to work great. I was worried about parts not matching up but aside from pulling off an old adapter for the original pump it was a snap and everything fit well. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: This is a good pump. The power consumption is higher than the Rio pumps that it replaced but itd does appear to work well. Installation is easy. The venturi's are loud and the clear tubing doesn't look as nice as the black tubing that came with the RIo pumps. Hopefully this one will be less maintenance tha thte Rio pump. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: While the quality of this pump is very high; IMO, this pump is too powerful for the bak pak skimmer. The pump also vibrates so much that the whole skimmer shakes and makes a horrible noise. The pump itself is much louder then the old RIO 600 as well. Looks like I have a new back up mixing pump as I am going back to the Rio :-(.... I would not recommend this product to my friends.
