It pulls out much more skimmate than my old CPR Bak-Pak 2. The hydor aero 400 is much quiter than any venturi pump I have used. Basically no micro-bubbles from the time it was first plugged in. Within a week there were no micro-bubbles. The hydor 200 intake pump is perfectly matched for this skimmer. Does not push water through the body to quickly like the acella pumps on the bak-paks. There are only two downfalls of this skimmer. The first is that the reaction chamber of the skimmer does not lock in to the body of the skimmer. Once water is in the chamber it wont go anywhere anyway. The other problem is that they used clear acrylic on the front and intake of the skimmer. This will cause algae to build up and need constant cleaning. I have used this as a HOB skimmer and in sump skimmer. It works flawlessly in both applications.
