CPR

From the large Aquaculture industry to the home hobbyist, Bio-BaleTM is the filter medium of choice for professionals. Simple in concept, Bio-BaleTM owes its extreme effectiveness to its high surface area versus volume and its unique surface texture. With 250 square feet of surface area per cubic foot and 33 square feet per gallon, Bio-BaleTM cannot be matched. Bio-BaleTM is produced from one continuous piece of F.D.A. approved, non-toxic plastic designed specifically for CPR. Bio-BaleTM is measured precisely by computer to achieve a consistent surface area.

Effectiveness—In use, Bio-BaleTM has three advantages that make it superior to any other filter media:

  • SURFACE AREA—Bio-BaleTM allows a greater volume of fish for any given tank size than any other media on the market today. Its large surface area and high water flow reduce toxic ammonia concentrations quickly.
  • SURFACE TEXTURE—Bio-BaleTM`s porous surface texture and optimum void space allows for greater water adhesion, resulting in rapid bacteria growth, even at high flow rates! Water shear is not a problem. The outstanding capillary action of Bio-BaleTM insures a wetted surface on both sides of the filter medium.
  • VERSATILITY—Bio-BaleTM`s unique structure allows it to be used in any size or shape biological filter, making it ideal for custom or commercial filters. Because it is actually a single continuous strip of inert plastic, cleaning and handling it is easy.

From the advanced Marine Biology department at Humboldt State University, just up the hill from CPR’s headquarters, to Humboldt Bay, about a mile west, CPR is nestled in a perfect environment to develop equipment for marine aquariums. CPR was started in a small garage in 1987 to produce biological filters for local aquarists. People who used CPR filters were impressed by the high quality and affordable prices. Word spread and the company grew. Since then, CPR has expanded to a 10,000 sq. ft. production facility and has developed many innovative products over the years. CPR is incorporating new ideas and technologies all the time. Their goal is to allow aquarists to place the highest performing products in their tanks at reasonable prices.

Bio filter supplies

I have used this product in my bio- filter for several years. It works to keep the water clear and it last from year to year. Take it out, rinse it out and it looks like new. Great product and the price is right. I put two bags in my 55 gallon filter.

best bio-material available..

I've used this material before as well as bioballs, but I've found that these pvc shavings are much more effective and econonical too . My filter media chamber is 35 gallons so it required 12 one gallon bags to fill. The shipping was fast as always and the package was delivered like clockwork by UPS right on schedule!

Proven media

This has been around for a long time and thought I would try it in a media reactor. Tried a lot of other recommended media but they did not show much in readings. My ORP is stabliized around 400 most of the time 415+ in the morning > 400 -395 through the day. Without the media noticed it would dip to 380 a lot more in the day time and more blooms. 75 gallon reef with very mature large fish and mature starfish had for many years.Great media! I never use charcoal. Just a great skimmer and 200micron bag. No u/v.
