Its Sand.

Needed a new look for my tank.. I was getting tired of the plain white color.. This spices things up a bit! Its sand... how can you give it lower stars?

Black Live Sand

I was expecting it to be more black to give my tank a different look than most, but Other than that I'm happy with everything else!

Overall good

I really like this sand. And am using it for a five gallon mantis tank. My only issues were that it had brown bits in it too. There's also the issue that the black sand prefers to be on the top...but a simple fix is just to stir it. The magnet thing worried me for awhile until I decided I could live with a brush on a stick. Overall great, if you're willing to compromise for that cool look.

Indo-Pacific

This is what the sand looks like in many Indo-Pacific regions I think this sand is spot on and have had no problems with it with my (LOW end) magnet cleaner. If you want a black look with the buffer capabilities of white sand buy it as this product works for me.

Never Again

I would never purchase the indo-pacific black sand again. I have a high quality magnet cleaner for the glass and there are iron chunks in this "sand". The ferrous material sticks to the magnetic cleaner and one must be extremely careful or you'll scratch your tank. Awful garbage that I would never purchase again. The only choice is a tear down and restart with different material or pick the crud out with a net over many months.

Bio-filter complete

After all of the negative things said about this particular product I would have to totally disagree. The color blend is good, and the sand grain size is excellent. This is especially true if you are trying to create an Indo-Pacific biotope where the sand isn't fine, but mixed with lots of rubble rock. The best thing about the Agra-Alive series of sand mixtures is the consistent number of bacteria per bag. The addition of the Indo-Pacific Black into my system helped kick start my bio-filter almost immediately. As always, an overall great product. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone trying to recreate their own little piece of the Indo-Pacific.

FAIL!

This is by far the worst "sand" I have ever come across. The white portion is sand alright but the black pieces are larger chunks of black rock VERY similar to the black gravel one might get for a freshwater tank (not quite lava rock). Some of the black pieces are up to 2" in size. FAR FROM SAND. Avoid this stuff like the plague unless you want to spend countless hours fishing the larger rocks out of your tank with a net. Take my advice and get a bag of white live sand or crushed coral of your choice then mix in a couple bags of the black "moon sand" for visual effect. I have noticed that my cleanup crabs (small hermits) will get stuck on the black ROCKS and don't like to let go. Using this stuff was the biggest mistake I have made in my 15+ years of reef keeping. I rank it a 1 because "sand" does not come in 2" chunks like what was in all 3 of my bags. This is nothing but a bag of black rocks with some white sand mixed in.

Great Product!

The sand looks great and really adds to the natural look of my tank. After reading a few other reviews with concerns to the color, I think it's pretty near perfect. I would recommend this product to others. Thanks for the great service too!
