CaribSea

1.25–1.95 mm diameter grain size. A revolution in reef-keeping! This is the one you’ve been reading about in all the hobbyist publications. This grade of aragonite is specifically engineered for plenum-type nitrate reducing beds or anywhere a deeper bed is called for. The pore water space created by precision grading also allows maximum pH support and dissolution of calcium carbonate.

CaribSea Aragonite buffers to the highest pH and delivers more calcium, carbonate, and trace elements than any other substrate. Little or no rinsing required, aragonite keeps aquariums healthier, longer.

Carib Sea Argonite Sand

I have only had this sand for a week now. I am an experienced reefer that needed to replace my sand. Initial preparation was very labor intensive as I think I rinsed the sand in excess of 20 times and the effluent water still never runs clear. My street curb gutters are colored white for quite a while down the street to the street drain. Once placed in the tank it looks great, but am having a hard time adjusting my wp25 wave makers to not blow the sand around. I have to point them into the rocks and up to accomplish this. Having said all this, I think it will work out well once I have fish and coral in the tank. If doing it again, I might opt for a larger particle size, even though I like the look of the smaller size and it is better for sand dwelling creatures.

Good sand

My favorite heavy grade sand. I like that it does not easily get blown around by my powerheads. Feels very much like sand on the beaches of Cancun, Mexico if you have ever vacationed there. A 40lb bag gave me a 3" sand bed in my JBJ28 nano tank. Good product. As always, thank you MarineDepot for the great service.

sand

Sand is very dirty. The grain size and realization of a real reef is great. The picture shows a whiter sand than it really is. It is a light beigh in color and I was wanting kinda just like the picture and that is why I gave it a 4 instead of 5 rating. Delivery was fast. I will buy from here again

Good Stuff

This is what you need if you don't want too fine or too corse sand. Really good stuff....Rinse it well (until it looks cloudy instead of milky) about 5 pounds at a time in a 5gal bucket & it will clear up in just a few hours time. Really beneficial to your reef tank. *****FIVE STARS *****

Great Reef Sand

This sand is the perfect size and color in my opinion. It is not so big that it traps detrius, but not so small that your power heads blow it around. I don't care what anyone says RINSE THIS SAND before you add it to a tank or you will be sorry. My skimmer is still pulling silt out of it when I stir a section of the sandbed. If you don't rinse it your water will look like skim milk for a couple days. It took mine 2 days to mostly clear with a skimmer/ sump and a canister filter on it. Other then that this sand is beautiful!

Quality Fine Grain Aragonite

Exactly as described. Perfect size grains for deep sand bed. It may be a little too fine for the main display if you have a lot of water movement. I am using it in a refugium. In my opion I would not pay extra for the "live sand" in a bag that is being sold. That stuff is another passing gimick preying on the misinformed. This product will have all the bacteria necessary in due time and it is a better value.

Exceptional Quality Sand

This sand is exceptional. I was just snorkling / diving in Hawaii and this side is identical to the sand found on the reefs and near the walls. The fish thrive in this size and texture of sand. I've seen it first hand! I will not be using any other sand for my substrate.

Great Product

I purchased the 40# of SG Reef Sand for a new 60G cube. The sand is very consistent in size and shape of the grains and it "washed" out a minor amount of impurities quickly. Looks great in the reef and it is definately a good value.
