Top quality Phillipine base rock, clean and nicely sized from baseball to softball size
South Seas Lace Rock is a great new aquascaping rock that we are excited to be offering. South Seas had much more structure than any other commonly available aquascaping rock and is much more porous than other as well. South Seas is a calcium carbonate base rock that is very similar to actual reef rock and at one point actually was, although it is obtained terrestrially from ancient coral reefs underground. South Seas will make the perfect alternative to live rock or can provide a very attractive base for live rock.

Was just what I wanted. In fact I ordered another 40lbs to use as a base for the reef I plan to build in my tank

Some rather large pieces and it all looks nice. Will look good once it gets some growth on it. I have made my own, but usually buy live rock from the LFS. For you newbs, you need to be careful with living live rock and it really should be quarantined away from fish and even corals for several weeks. You can bring in coarl parasites and even ich from the store bought live rock, but they wont tell you that. This is the fast, safe way to add rock to your display, and all you need to seed it is the tiny bit of coraline algae you'll bring in on your coral frag plugs. Soon it will all be coraline encrusted. Anyway this is a good product at a reasonable price.

I was sure wha to expect upon arrival to be honest, never ordered rocks before. THe rocks are good quality, could have had more surface area but still very good. My only gripe was I had several small pieces that appear to have broken of . I guess that is to be expected, packaging seemed adequate. Would have been happier if there had been no breakage.

...and massive surface area. I got 15 nice pieces and there was some sand and little chunks and I put that in the refugium. Very sharp, be careful. I can't wait to fill all those nooks and crannies with a gazillion little critters. Worth every penny.
Only one negative. The add gave a sale price and I was charged the full price instead. I should have seen it before it shipped and I'm sure they'll make it up on my next order.

The rock was a lot denser than I had imagined it to be. I'm used to Fiji and have never bought base rock so always feel rock wet. That is why I'm was suprised to pick up rock that literally felt as heavy as a cinder block of the same size!
That said, I got 5 pieces. 2 large, 3 medium. 2 were nice, 2 were acceptable, one was garbage (literally, might as well throw cinder block in the tank, not one hole in the rock!)
Would I recommend? Probably not.
Would I buy again? Nope.
I like the idea of nature conservation, but the rock ends up being more than 2$ a pound and is probably not the best biofilter given its high density.
jme.

Shipment arrived today and began curing instantly. One box had three larger pieces (5-8 lbs.) and five or six smaller pieces and the other had eight or nine similarly sized chunks, but NO RUBBLE at all. Most of the rocks had some great shapes and contours to them and a few looked like sidewalk but overall shapes were good and varied. We'll see how is goes after its cured out and put in the tank.

i got a 40 pound order, most of the rocks were slightly bigger than my fist, and only 2 pieces of rocks were really big... but those 2 big rocks were VERY dense, and hand 0 holes in it, they just looked like rock off a mountain. not worth 80+ bucks.

I bought this rock for a new tank. I usually get Tufa. This is much nicer, in shape and size. I will get this again.
