Worked wonderfully on hair algae. For those who are saying it did'nt, well it sure wasn't hair algae they were treating. Make sure to stopthe flow, apply generous amount to affected area and watch it vanish within 24 hours. I highly recommend this product!

I've been fighting a loosing battle against hair algae for the last 4-5 months including all the suggested steps to stop its growth, however the fair algae embedded into the live rock which is considerable would not go away and could not be manually removed or managed.
3 weeks ago I began treating the growth applying CHEM-Marin at prescribed every 3-4 days. Now after 6-7 treatments of 24 oz of the product my tank is virtually clean of hair algae.
FYI, I have 6 shrimp (3 cleaner and 3 scarlet) in the tank which appear to like eating the Chem-marin without negative effect. As I treat the hair algae I constantly have to scare them away, but otherwise no ill effects.
Also in the tank are 2 blennies, 4 gobies, 2 tangs and a Marine beta all showing no ill effects.
Again I choose to use more treatments of lesser volume to insure the safety of the inhabitits.
In short I am exceedingly happy with the results and have just purchased an additional bottle for maintenance purposes.

I have used this product 3 times now. It does kill the hair algae, but it does not keep it from coming back. When I use it, I treat the algea very heavily. I turn off all the pumps and jets for about 12 hours, so there isn't any water cirulating. When the algae dies it comes loose from the rock very easily. I allow the product to work for about 3 days before picking the algea out. Once, I've picked all I can, I do a 50% water change.

I would NOT recommend this product. It says it is safe for fish and invert., it is not. I used no more than the recommended dose, less actually. The next day my blue tang, yellow tang, fire shrimp, and star were dead. I had turned the powerheads and angled them in a different direction as recommended, used the applicator recommended, and had not exceeded the dose and yet I lost a lot of livestock. These were fish that have been in this system and thriving for about 2 years. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!

One good thing is that the product didn't affect my corals as advertised. Another is that it smells like Tabasco sauce. The bad news is that after applying the product with the recommended applicator, results were negative. All pumps and circulation were shut off for about 8 hours. I used half the bottle in a concentrated area, but no more than directed. In terms of specifics, I had to email Chem Marin to get good instructions. The bottle provides little info. I'm going to retry application onto an even smaller area to see what happens before the next water change. Until then you be the judge...

Used as directed (daily) for about a week.
Possible thinning of hair algae, possible slower re-growth, but most definatelly nothing like the positive results I read in other reviews.
The Stop Hair Algae syringe works...sort of. No angle to the tip makes it impossible to apply in crevaces, under ledges or between rocks.
