CoolWorks Microchiller
Information
The MicroChiller provides a cooling solution for nano-reef tanks and other small aquariums that require cooler temperatures. The new MicroChiller not only solves the cooling problems inherent in nano-reef applications, but it also increases the flow of water in the tank that is necessary for the healthy growth of the coral. The MicroChiller uses solid-state heat pump technology, so there is no messy freon leaks or compressors that make irritating noises, which sets it apart from conventional chillers. Because the MicroChiller has so few moving parts, when used properly, it will provide trouble-free operation for many years. This compact chiller can chill bring down the temperature in a 10 gallon aquarium up to 4-6 degrees. Use in conjunction with the Porportional Thermoelectic Controller (sold seperately).

I have to admit, I was very skeptical at first. But after some research online and lots of read reviews I decided to give this a try. Bought this for my 12 gallon reef in my office. Which i need to share with three PCs and a laptop so my office is usually really hot. my tank was at 83 degrees before this was set up, I also bought the coolworks temp controller since I did not want to deal with turning this on and off or setting it on a timer. was very easy to set up, set this up with out instructions in about 15 minutes. set this up on Friday afternoon and with in 45 min the temp dropped about to 81 degrees. its been running all weekend and now Monday morning its down to a cool 79.0 degrees. its only been three days, but so far so good.

Before I purchased the microchiller, my 10 gallon planted tank usually reaches 80+ degree, which puts a lot of stress on baby tear plants and causes them to turn yellow and die. I am glad that I made this purchase. The microchiller came with the probe installed on a filter unit and a power supply. It's easy to install. It constantly lowers the tank temperature to around 75 degree even when the 65w light is on, with ambient room temperature of 85 degree. So far I am happy and hope that it can last a long time.

Doesn't seem to chill water much if any at all in my 24G tank. I felt with my finger and doesn't seem much cooler, maybe not at all than the non chilled water in my tank but the green LED is on which says it's working. I'm thinking of trying a regular fan or buy a standard chiller.

Starting from the beginning - we were really excited to find a small chiller appropriate for our 28gal Nano. When the Chiller arrived, we were disappointed to see that there were no instructions, diagrams etc.. in the box. It's not that it was hard to install, but there were a couple of small pieces that we weren't sure where they belonged. We checked on the CoolWorks website and found a diagram. Installing the chiller onto our tank required that we cut a section out of the back 'lip' so that the chiller would hang flat instead of at a angle, which caused it to suck air instead of water. The chilling effect is amazing. We have it set up to come on with our lights. We've only had the chiller for 2 days and we are having issues with microbubbles being produced when it is running and we have to cup water into the chiller to get is started. Tonight we'll be working on a resolution to both of these issues. The Chilling effect is so worth the effort, I'm sure we'll get everything working great with a little work.

Great product for Nano tank users. Mounts in the back of the tank with no problem just make sure you purchase the additional thermostat for it other wise you will need to keep an eye on it to make sure it will not make the tank cooler than what you want. Keeps the tank at what i need it to be

I installed this on my 14 gallon Bio-cube and it worked great!!!!! With the 70 Watt Viper light on and the room temperature at 78 degrees; my tank would hit temperatures around 84-85 degrees. After installing the CoolWorks Microchiller; it is steady at 79.5 degrees.

In the process of ordering this devise, I accused the customer service rep. of falsifying these testimonials to gin up business. He denied it. At first glance, this seems like a rigged up Whisper power filter, a heat sinc, and a cheap fan. And that is exactly what it is. The thing is, it is fantastic at what it claims to do. I plunged the temp in my 12g reef tank from 84 to 77 on the lowest flow setting! It's small, quiet, and doesn't eat up a lot of electricity. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one for a tank twice the size of my own. WORTH THE MONEY.
