CoolWorks

The MicroChiller provides a cooling solution for nano-reef tanks and other small aquariums that require cooler temperatures. The new MicroChiller not only solves the cooling problems inherent in nano-reef applications, but it also increases the flow of water in the tank that is necessary for the healthy growth of the coral. The MicroChiller uses solid-state heat pump technology, so there is no messy freon leaks or compressors that make irritating noises, which sets it apart from conventional chillers. Because the MicroChiller has so few moving parts, when used properly, it will provide trouble-free operation for many years. This compact chiller can chill bring down the temperature in a 10 gallon aquarium up to 4-6 degrees.  Use in conjunction with the Porportional Thermoelectic Controller (sold seperately).

Cool works chiller

This little chiller worked great for my 10g. Lowered it about 5 degrees. Fast shipping and very happy with product.

Worth every penny!

I decided to invest in this unit for my Fusion Nano 10 gallon due to having an unstable water temp. W/O this unit, my temp use to shoot up close to 90 degrees and above and using frozen water bottles to cool it down. But, after the frozen water bottles melted, the water temp would shoot up again. So after installing this unit along with the separate controller, took a day or so to finally get the correct setting I wanted and now my water temp stays around 77 degrees. Great investment!!

Product great/packaging bad

I purchased this after summer temps in my 10g planter freshwater tank started reaching 82F. It's worked every bit as well as I'd hoped, easily handling a 5F pulldown. The only hesitation I have in strongly recommending this is the packaging. The outer, Marine Depot box is well packed. The inner, original Coolworks packaging is terrible, with the heavy cooling unit loosely attached to the light plastic filter, and little surrounding protection. My order arraigned with a cracked filter body, and MD stepped up wonderfully, with a replacement at my door 48hrs later. It too, was terribly packaged, but thankfully usable.

Works Well

I use this in a 5 gal nano tank. The heat in my house is such that setting the thermostat so it's comfortable downstairs makes it boiling hot upstairs in the bedroom where my tank is. The water temp w/o the chiller was in the 80s and this product brought it down to low 70s overnight. My Fluval Spec 5 tank has a plastic cover that had to be cut to accommodate the unit and that took some effort. The chiller apparatus is almost silent but the water pump does make some noise.

Decent Tank Cooler

The tank cooler has done a good job keeping the tank temperature from close to 90 degrees to down to close to 80 degrees in a 10 gallon tank. Also, like that the pump and cooler are two separate power sources. I have the cooler on the timer to turn off when the lights go off and the pump on all the time. Only two gripes are that water needs to be put into the pump reservoir to get the pump to start circulating water. The other issue was that it appeared that the product was not packaged in its original packaging so the top plastic piece was broken and cracked in multiple spots. Since I wanted to make use of the device I was able to glue the broken parts together and secure it so it works. A little disappointed in the quality of the plastic.

Perfect for a small tank

Very skeptical at first but this microchiller works great. My 20gallon tank was reaching temperatures of 86 once summer hit. I went to my local saltwater fish store and they suggested this microchiller. I got it and now it keeps my tank at a steady 78 (we keep our AC at 82). Definitely a good investment, I highly suggest this to anyone having trouble maintaining a good temperature during the summer.

skeptical at first.

I have to admit, I was very skeptical at first. But after some research online and lots of read reviews I decided to give this a try. Bought this for my 12 gallon reef in my office. Which i need to share with three PCs and a laptop so my office is usually really hot. my tank was at 83 degrees before this was set up, I also bought the coolworks temp controller since I did not want to deal with turning this on and off or setting it on a timer. was very easy to set up, set this up with out instructions in about 15 minutes. set this up on Friday afternoon and with in 45 min the temp dropped about to 81 degrees. its been running all weekend and now Monday morning its down to a cool 79.0 degrees. its only been three days, but so far so good.

It works great for 10 gallon

Before I purchased the microchiller, my 10 gallon planted tank usually reaches 80+ degree, which puts a lot of stress on baby tear plants and causes them to turn yellow and die. I am glad that I made this purchase. The microchiller came with the probe installed on a filter unit and a power supply. It's easy to install. It constantly lowers the tank temperature to around 75 degree even when the 65w light is on, with ambient room temperature of 85 degree. So far I am happy and hope that it can last a long time.
