The fans are very quiet and put out considerable air. Would be 5 star if they'd come all wired up. Although it's not an issue to use the included wire nuts, it's one step a consumer shouldn't have to perform.

It was a great fan while it ran, only lasted 3 months and it only has a 30 day warranty. I'll not buy another one.

Pro: This fan is very solid, metal case gives it a sturdy base which helps keep this fan nearly silent.
Cons: The volume of air pushed out by these fans is not that impressive. Moreover the electrical cord provided ends with raw stripped wire (+,-,G). These connect via cheap plastic connectors to the flimsy wires from the fan. With no instructions of any kind you have understand the basics of electrical wiring to attempt this. And wrap with copious amounts of electrical tape.
Bottom line, there are much better options out in the world.

The 4" fan is exactly 2 and 5/32 inches thick. That includes the nuts and bolts. The positive and negative leads are not marked on the fan for connecting the cord, but after testing it both ways, the fan itself does not appear to be polarized and rotates the same either way. The wire couplings are not too small. Simply insert the twisted copper wire into the round end until it stops, then clamp down hard with pliers to lock it into place. Slide the flat end of each coupler over each lead/prong on the fan. They are snug, but don't lock into place, so if you believe polarity matters, you can easily swap them if needed. The cord itself is an 8ft heavy duty three prong polarized plug
The fan is quiet, moves a lot of air, and is solidly built. No complaints.

Fan works great, can't even hear it running. It lowered my tank temp 2 degrees. only complaint is the cord was not attached so i had to plug in the cord with just wires sticking out and test which ones was + - . I cut off the green one and hooked up the black and white.

I have two fish tanks a 180 gals and a 90 gals and both of them have the 3" cooling fans. WOW... no heat under the hoods. They are extra quiet, smooth running and long lasting life. The ones in the 180 gals have 6 years... Now what??? Never have a problem!!! Will recommend to friends.

I ordered 3 and was wondering why the weak airflow. I received the lowest rated and cheapest multicomp fan. Only rated at 30cfm, 35db.The best AC 115v 3" fan out there is the multicomp mc21680 (41cfm, 32db). You can get it for $21

Fan performs as expected. Set-up was a challenge since power cord was not connected to the fan and there were no instructions included for which wires should be connected and the connectors were to big for the wires. I had to use my own connectors. Other than that the fan cools and is not very loud.

Well made fan, thick and heavy duty, the housing is made of metal not plastic! This fan moves a lot of air! And the best thing of all about this fan is that it is so QUIET I cannot hear it running! The fan is thick so I had to mount it on the outside of my hood and cut a hole so the air can blow across the bulbs. I just replaced the stove bolts it came with and used 3 inch wood screws to attach it to the hood, it also comes with a foam filter that snaps onto the fan to filter the air.
