Works perfect; it keeps the fluorescents about 4 inches off the top of the tank which minimizes heat transfer ( I noticed no change in tank temp), and not affecting the intensity of the light in or out of the tank. In my opinion these are a must for the Coralife lights because the fixtures get too hot to be on the tank. So in closing they should have been supplied with the light to begin with.
