The author Dr Veron took up diving in the mid 60`s and has been working on corals ever since - work that has taken him to all the major coral reef regions of the world. He is principal author of 12 books and monographs on corals including the award winning Corals in Space and Time. Dr Veron has three higher degrees including a DSc for his work on coral taxonomy. For many years he has been Chief Scientist at the Australian Institute of Marine Science.
Corals of the World is an end product of thirty years of research. It is also very much the outcome of the author`s love of nature and was written for the use and enjoyment of all who appreciate the beauty of coral reefs and who want to know more about the organisms that build them.
The scientific editor and producer Dr Stafford-Smith has worked for 20 years on coral reefs worldwide. She specialises in eco-physiological questions and management issues and has an extensive taxonomic knowledge of corals. Through this work she expanded her expertise in information technology and developed interests in other fields, including design.
Corals of the World was created through Dr Stafford-Smith`s combined knowledge of coral taxonomy and computer technology. Like the author, it is also the outcome of a love of coral reefs and a desire to do her part for their long-term conservation.

I ordered the set because a supplier of mine used it to show me a coral that neither he or I could identify. When he showed the book to me I reqlized I needed it. Each section of corals are broken down into where, what, and even when categories (so you can show off your knowledge). All the corals have a picture of them in the wild, usually another pic, an then a picture of the skeloton (this is a huge advantage in identification). The only dissapointment I found was the lack of any soft coral. For those sps and lps lovers the volumes are great. I'm very happy.

These are beautiful high quality books that I would recomend to anyone. The covers are nice and the pages are thick, and have the most beautiful color photographs. This set would be perfect for any aquarist considering this volume of books. They are loaded with a wealth of information. The books arrived expertly packaged and in mint condition. I've never received books that were packaged so well. Worth every penny!

"As always my experience with Marine Depot was 'overall satisfaction.' If on the phone, by video or the write-in reviews on the product I am interested in, they are always helpful. When I am in doubt of what product will help me or where to find it, Marine Depot is usually the first and last place I go to."
