D-D H2Ocean

*6.6Kg Tub makes 165 - 200 liters of saltwater (43-52 US Gallons)

H2Ocean Pro+ is a new pro formula aquarium salt - produced by a solar evaporative process which produces a totally natural base salt where all of the main and trace elements are in complete balance as nature intended.

The pure natural salt is then specially enhanced for aquarium use by elevating specific elements that over time become depleted, such as calcium and magnesium which are used by corals and coralline algae for growth.

Free from Nitrate and Phosphate.

CHEMISTRY
The formulation for H2Ocean+ salt has been developed by D-D following many months of testing and evaluation. The salt is designed to dissolve quickly and easily and to have a specific chemistry which in our opinion is the optimum formulation to maintain a healthy reef and allow regular water changes whilst maintaining a natural balance.

Calcium and Magnesium levels are boosted to replace that used up through coral growth within the aquarium whereas chloride levels are slightly lowered to allow post additions of calcium and magnesium chloride with a minimized affect on the chloride balance.

Parameters when mixed to a S.G: of 1.025 @ 25°C = 35.5 ppt

Parameters Level Range Units
pH 8.3 8.2-8.4
dKH 9.3 8.7-9.8
Calcium (Ca2+) 440 430-460 mg/l
Magnesium (Mg2+) 1340 1300-1380 mg/l
Chloride (Cl-) 19550 19960-20130 mg/l
Potassium (K+) 410 380-420 mg/l

RO WATER
H2Ocean Pro+ salt is recommended for use with Reverse Osmosis water or soft water with a calcium level lower than 30 mg/l. As the calcium level in H2Ocean+ is already enhanced to 440 mg/l then mixing with hard tap water which contains additional calcium may raise the concentration above normal recommended levels and cause the calcium to precipitate out of solution.

RO water removes undesirable ions like phosphate and nitrate from your tap water which otherwise would contribute to nuisance algae in your aquarium.

D-D manufactures a range of Reverse Osmosis units which are available from your retailer.

MAGNESIUM PRO PLUS FORMULA
Many salts concentrate on boosting calcium levels and ignore magnesium levels.

Maintenance of the correct magnesium concentration is equally important in a reef aquarium and will make it much easier to maintain stable calcium, pH and alkalinity.

MIXING
Using a clean container:
  • Add 1 Kg of H2Ocean+ to 24.2 litres of water ( 1 Lb to 2.9 U.S. Gallons )
  • Mix well until all of the salt is dissolved and the solution is clear.
  • We recommend that you aerate for 24 hours and bring to temperature before use.
  • Check the S.G. before addition to the aquarium.
  • If required add more salt or water to obtain the correct S.G. reading.
  • Remember that S.G. changes with temperature.
D-D recommends the use of a portable refractometer for accurate and consistent measurement of the S.G. of your salt solution.

One of my favorite salts

The product is mixed with another salt mix, but I've test the mix alone and it's spot on for a reef tank that is SPS dominant. Remember, consistency makes the tank stable and we all know how important that is for success. A bit more than others but well worth it.

A must have

This salt is awesome. Dissolves within a couple hours as long as you have proper aeration. Leaves no residue whatsoever. Parameters are as advertised. Only negative is that you are limited to very few places that sell this product. It takes 6 days to get to my residence from marine depot and that's bad if I need it on the spot. Even though it's pricier than other salt, I will buy this product as long as I have a reef system.

Balanced

Have done one water change so far using this salt, and have notice that my pH and kH seems more stable already! Had been using Salinity, and hated the fact in never completely dissolved, always looked cloudy even though I use RO water. The D-D H2Ocean Mag Pro Plus dissolves completely with no residue or cloudiness. I like it!

Awesome Salt

I have been using this salt for almost year now and have been thoroughly impressed. I have seen an explosion in my corals both soft and hard. I couldn't be more happy. Unless someone can prove to me that there is a better product, I highly recommend this salt. I have read some reviews about sediment and water discoloration. However, I have not personally experienced these issues. As for the water discoloration (chalky/milky), I have experienced this with other salts as well, but only during mixture. I turn my mixture water over for a couple of days before adding to the tank so the salt can thoroughly dissolve and the water has a chance to clarify. Furthermore, I use RO/DI water exclusively. 90 gal. reef tank 2 x 110w VHO actinic 2 x 250w MH, Iwasaki 6500K

busted container

I was very happy that I received my product, but I was a bit displeased to see that the container it came in was busted open. Lucky enough the salt mix is packaged inside of a clear plastic bag then put into a plastic container. Hopefully next time this won't happen again.

I.D.K.

Sometimes when we make changes to our systems we may experience some small changes/issues but since switching over to H2Ocean, I've had this funky brown algae bloom going on in my tank and I haven't had on since my tank finished cycling a year ago. I've also had low pH issues since switching. I've done 3 W/C so far and wanted to use the entire 6.6kg bucket and try to let it work itself out but I'm not feeling good about this salt and I think I may go back to ESV. So far, I'm not happy at all. If it changes, I'll update.
