Manufacturer Info

Digital Aquatics Aquarium Supplies
Digital Aquatics was founded in 2004 and has quickly become the most recognized name in aquarium automation. Since the company debuted the original ReefKeeper 1 (now known as the RK1) in 2004, they have gone on to create some of the most flexible, innovative and cost effective aquarium controllers on the market. The revolutionary ReefKeeper Elite (RKE) was unveiled in 2008 and the affordable ReefKeeper Lite (RKL) came out shortly thereafter to appeal to more budget-conscience aquarium hobbyists. In 2010, Digital Aquatics released a reptile version, the HerpKeeper, as well as the aptly named PondKeeper. ReefKeeper controllers simplify aquarium keeping duties by monitoring and controlling a variety of water parameters and equipment including but not limited to lighting, water flow, heating, cooling, pH and ORP.

Go with dual for ATO

So this is a DA product and I am using it with the "Marine Depot" Reef Keeper Lite, made by DA. I highly recommend using a dual float system with your auto top off pump / controller so you have a back up in case one switch goes bad (so you don't over fill your tank). Setting up one switch is easy but setting up two switches involves some YouTube videos. The main reason I deducted half a star was that neither the instructions provided by the RKL nor the switch package gives much information to help you set it up properly. Have been using for several months now with no issues. On a related topic for other beginners, when buying an auto top off pump make sure you look at the "head" number of feet/ meters, as this is how high the pump will send water from your reservoir to your tank. Maybe not an issue if your reservoir is next to a sump, but for an all-in-one, you might need to send it 5' or 6' high to the back/ top of your tank.

Pure Junk

Bought 3 of these and the screw holes were either undersized or oversized had to re-tap undersized holes and drill and tap oversized holes then use over sized screws and open slots in the adjustment arms. Wouldn't recommend to anyone.

Reduced quality

I have been a customer of DA products since the release of their first products. Its unfortunate that a once stellar product has resulted in sub-standard manufacture. These float mounts were another example. These are made from two pieces of plexiglass help together with plastic screws. However, the supplied screws are too small for the tapped holes in the plastic and do not hold at all. These means there is a possibility of the float valve not activating. Its a simple after a trip down to Lowes, but really?

Great Product

Use this with a Neptune Apex Controller, these work great, they are easy to set up and seem reliable. If using with an Apex Controller don't forget the I/O breakout box.

Poor Attention to details

Unfortunately some modifications to this product were required after purchase. The plastics screws used to adjust the length of the arm for the float switch were so badly mis-sized they would simply slide in and out of the holes tapped into the acrylic. I'm pretty sure it is a problem with the tap size of the hole because I used many of the other screws I have on other equipment with the same result. Disappointed at such an obvious production error.

Great Floats!

I ordered these to setup an auto-top off system on my 120 gallon. They work great with the Apex I/O Breakout Box. Anyone who uses only one float for auto top-off is crazy. If the first float should fail you will have a flood. I used the second float for redundancy to make sure that does not happen. The two wires on each float were only about 6 inches so I had to use the extra wire that came with it to extend the length. Floats feel like good quality and take up very little room. I place both floats on one bracket in the sump to save more space and the brackets have pre-drilled holes for that.

Good product

I really like the quality and build of these switches. For my purpose they were going in my display tank and when I received them they are HUGE!!!! A few modification and they cut down to size and work GREAT!
