Manufacturer Info

Digital Aquatics Aquarium Supplies
Digital Aquatics was founded in 2004 and has quickly become the most recognized name in aquarium automation. Since the company debuted the original ReefKeeper 1 (now known as the RK1) in 2004, they have gone on to create some of the most flexible, innovative and cost effective aquarium controllers on the market. The revolutionary ReefKeeper Elite (RKE) was unveiled in 2008 and the affordable ReefKeeper Lite (RKL) came out shortly thereafter to appeal to more budget-conscience aquarium hobbyists. In 2010, Digital Aquatics released a reptile version, the HerpKeeper, as well as the aptly named PondKeeper. ReefKeeper controllers simplify aquarium keeping duties by monitoring and controlling a variety of water parameters and equipment including but not limited to lighting, water flow, heating, cooling, pH and ORP.

expansion socket

the reef keeper will control this socket as long as there is power, but as soon as the reef keeper is off line, it will not acknowledge the default setting for whatever you are plugging in. example: I plugged the expansion socket into a back up power supply, and then plugged my power heads into the expansion socket with the default that if the reef keeper goes off line that the power extension, and the power heads would stay working on battery, but as soon as the reef keeper is unplugged the expansion socket goes off, irregardless of the default setting. be careful what you get this for. otherwise it does work.

Works like a charm.

The photo of this is a little off - the units shipping are "wall wart" type plugs or brick that plug directly into the socket. Not sure if this is an old photo or a one of a newer model. The unit does exactly as described and is great for poor power devices or hardware with higher demands. I am using this for a chiller circuit that turns on my pump and chiller at the same time. The only complaint would be a unit that is exactly as pictured - not a wall mount type. The unit pictured gives you a little more flexibility with mounting location -as you have a power cord to the wall and a cord to your RK unit. Works pefectly and the DA guys are hands down the best when it comes to taking care of customers.

JoeZ is an idiot!

This product is to control big amps and take the load off the pc4, if you wanted more outlets with low amp draw then yes a pig tail with splitter will work fine and you don't need a manual to tell you that! This is a great product for those of us that need to control MH's, chiller's and other power hungry devices.

not worth it

You loose 1 of the outlets in the reef keeper when you buy this. Unless you need more than 15 amps save your money and buy a pig tail. No where in the writeup on this site do they tell you this.

Must have accessory

I got 3: one for the MHs, one for PCs & 1 for the entire Ca reactor system. Cheap powerstips or extensions would have worked too, but these gave peace of mind about the amperage. Just a little costly.

worth the money

This item is great for electricity pigs, like halides and chillers. takes the pressure off the other outlets, but will need a wall socket of it's own.
