Not much heat and an average of 1.1 amps consumption. This pump is quiet, not loud, but not quiet enough for a living room tank. You can still hear a little hum outside the cabinet 10 feet away. But in overall this is a good quality pump and I'm very pleased with it. I guess I'm getting used to the low humming, because is not bothering me that much this couple days. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.
