E.S.V. B-Ionic Seawater System Salt Mix - Makes 25 Gallons of Saltwater
A unique solution to many of the problems associated with all dry synthetic seawater blends.
Problem:
All dry blends may not be homogenous resulting in considerable chemical variations not only from batch to batch but also from within the same container. Aggravating this further, humidity contamination during storage can result in localized precipitation reactions.
Solution:
B-Ionic® Seawater System avoids these problems by providing the two dominant salts in our formulation in separate containers. All other major, minor, and trace elements are pre-dissolved in a highly concentrated two component liquid system. These dry and liquid components can easily be measured for any size batch of synthetic seawater.
Problem:
It is now recognized that most reagent grade salts can contain contaminants (trace metals, etc.) at levels which may inhibit the growth of some algae species from low nutrient environments (oligotrophic) such as coral reefs.
Solution:
B-Ionic® Seawater System addresses this issue by providing ultra-low heavy metal Sodium Chloride (max. allowable less than half max. allowable for reagent grade sodium chloride) and USP grade Magnesium Sulfate as the dry components of the system. In addition, all other chemicals pre-dissolved in our liquid components are subject to our three phase purification process resulting in significant lowering of contaminants, including phosphate.
Problem:
Many all dry blends take excessive time to completely dissolve. Addition of newly mixed batches to the aquarium can cause irritation to inhabitants upon exposure to non-dissolved salt micro-particles.
Solution:
B-Ionic® Seawater System avoids this problem by providing all of the slower dissolving ingredients in a pre-dissolved solution form. Batches can be used within 10 minutes of preparation with no adverse effects providing initial RO and/or DI water contains sufficient dissolved oxygen.

Bought two 25gal Kits and BOTH were short on the Magnesium Sulfate Heptahydrate while at the same time provided too much Sodium Chloride. (I checked by both weight AND volume measurements.) Effectively, each kit only had enough Mg for 20 U.S. Gal, not the advertised 25...but I got an extra cup of salt for my trouble. Ugh!
Absolutely Great Stuff, IF you get the amount you pay for.

I won't just say the same reviews as everyone else, but I do agree with them.
I would highly suggest having a digital scale with this product. For around $20 online or in the store you won't regret it. It only needs to be accurate within .5 measurement, easier if it measures in grams. I picked up some $2 Tupperware, add it to scale, tare, and element to amount on directions....

I love this salt! I measure each component with a $20 digital scale and every batch comes out perfect every time. I am able to match my tank chemistry perfectly with just a few minor tweaks to the main recipe. Other salts I have used seem to shift calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium levels the longer I leave sit. I testted the ESV every 3-4 days for two weeks and the parameters never shifted while storing it in an air tight container. I also really like that I don't seem to get the same nasty brown residue left behind in my mixing container.
In addition I can truly see a better response in my corals especially sps. Typically when I would do a water change the sps would retract their polyps for a short time. This is not the case with the ESV, if anything I am getting better polyp extension.
This mix does take longer to prepare but once you have done it a few times it really dosnt take all that much extra effort for what you get. I highly recommend this salt to anyone who has been thinking about trying it.

This salt is a joy to use. It mixes crystal clear in minutes with absolutely no residue or cloudiness. It is ready to use after only one hour, so I no longer have to pre-mix the day before. It's also great for emergencies so I no longer have to keep a reserve of premixed seawater. Don't let the fact that it's in four parts put you off. Measuring is stupid-easy, especially with a kitchen scale. Because the hard-to-dissolve elements are already in liquid form, this salt does a complete end run around all the consistency issues that seem to plague all the other salts. No dry mixing! No issues with hygroscopic anhydrous ingredients that cause clumping! No cloudiness! No waiting for the pH to stabilize! Free set of measuring spoons in every box! Highly recommended.

ESV has a pretty strong reputation for quality products. This one is the flagship too. Excellent Salt Mix. I use ESV Salt for 150 gal SPS tank without any problems. Corals look pretty wonderful. NO3 - 0, PO4 - 0. And I`ve never seen Salt what is ready to use after 1 hour mixing time !!!!!!!!
Best Salt on the market.

ESV may cost more than your average salt, but the consistency of the parameters it mixes to are worth every penny. I had grown tired of rolling buckets around on the floor only to have my parameters vary from batch to batch. ESV has given me the same parameters every water change, and it hasn't just been from the same box, but I'm now on my 3rd box and numbers as always 9.2 dkh, 475 Ca, 1380 Mg.
It mixes a lot cleaner too, there is absolutely no residues left behind in the mixing container.

The ESV saltwater mix is by far the best I've ever used. It effectively deals with the problem of settling out of constituent elements that results in out of spec synthetic sea water. ESV tackles this problem by providing sodium chloride, magnesium, and trace elements in separate containers with instructions for mixing them in the appropriate proportions foe specific amounts of water. An additional benefit of the salt is that it mixes very cleanly, leaving none of the residue that is present with even some of the high priced salts.

This is the only salt I use and trust for my aquariums. Easy to mix, can be quickly mixed into a 200 gallon holding tank. Everything dissolves fast and you have nice clear water with proper alk, magnesium and calcium levels.
