Yes Please. by DAN ZABLER

Comments: Before this pump I had a couple different powerheads in my tank to try to create random flow and it was not working. I purchased the MP20 to help and it did. I was able to take 3 powerheads out and my corals are loving the flow. Everything in my tank has done better and grown bigger. Ecotech makes a great product that does a great job of replicating natural random flow. Yes it is a little expensive but it is sooo worth it. Plus they have awesome customer service.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: This product moves all the water in my 30 gallon Finnex tank. I am glad I made the investment in this pump. If you are thinking about it, stop stalling.

Good product but... by FRED SCHWARTZ

Comments: Pinwheel setup is on dry side -- separate 2 large pieces and remove thin rubber disk to expose marks to align to power cord per the thickness of your tank wall. Once installed, it put out nice flow but motor was annoyingly high-pitched and whiny when fully throttled. Lots of modes to choose from yes but is it worth paying $300 for this? In my humble opinion, no. The Hydro Magnum 7's put out MUCH more flow at half the cost plus super quiet.
I would not recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I have a 55 gal tank so was concerned if the MP20 had enough power. The flow easily carries from one side to the other - obviously a little less flow on the opposite side but based on how I have my corals arranged its fine. I only have the pump turned up 3/4 of the way set on Reef Crest. The other settings were interesting as well but I preferred this for my tank. I left a Koralia 1 in the far top corner just to be sure I had enough movement. That's all I need in my tank for great results.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: Although a little pricy it works as advertised, very easy to program, and looks great in the tank (no ugly power cord). I think I will end up getting another..two of these working together? ...mama mia!!
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Blows the Tunze away by MATT PETRAK

Comments: Well I replaced a modified Tunze 6025 with the MP20 in my bc29 and all i can say is wow. This pump suspended all detrius in the tank immediately and the random flow pattern is just being loved by my coral and fish alike. I'm running it on reef crest mode at full power and there are no sand storms, just great flow everywhere. The tunze worked well, it's just the flow is too concentrated and the clip has broken twice already with minimal contact. Highly recomended piece of equipment.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: The pump is a great product but I couldn't keep because my tank is too small for the pump. I wish if I had a bigger tank.

Comments: You do not need to explain it, and the current has a large role for breeding of the coral. This product completely wiped out the trouble about the current. The person who wants to breed coral can recommend me to anyone.

Marine Vortech MP20 by Jonz

Posted on 12/15/2008 from SPRING VALLEY, CA UNITED STATE
Comments: Just installed in my 75gal sps reef, wanted to add more flow. Even though its design is for 70 gallons or smaller. This pump has a powerful punch!! I use it to create a reefcrest wave and my corals are loving it. I've seen improved polyp extension and decreased detritus buildup on my sand bed. I definately recommend it.

Ecotech Marine VorTech Propell by Doctor B

Comments: Been doing this for 12 years and I have to say this is a great pump and the marine life in my 75 gal seem to love the simulation. My only complaint is that the flow all the way on the other side of the tank is non existant... but it was built for 70G and lower... but I don't see how 5 gal makes a difference with 150 lbs of rock... size really matters I guess
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: You simply cannot beat the random flow that this pump produces. I have a MP20 on my 34 gal Solana and it is by far the best piece of equpiment that I have ever purchased. This pump rocks!

Comments: I'd been considering buying one of these for a while, and my only regret now that I have is that I didn't order it sooner. My fish love it, my corals are happy, and I love watching everything sway in the flow. Buy it, you won't be sorry you did!

MP20 by Nat

Comments: Really enjoying this pump on my 29 gallon tank. I replaced a Koralia 3 that is rated to 850gph, but was far too powerful in the way it directed the flow. I am able to run the Vortech at full power in my aquarium and move much more water but without blasting the corals. Fish seem much happier because of this, and my corals seem to respond nicely. Also capable of generating a two inch wave in the tank, although I feel this is somewhat gimmicky and less valuable than the other flow patterns the controller can generate.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Unsatisfactory
Not engineered to last:( by Steve
Experience Level: Intermediate
Posted on 8/29/2008 from Northern VA
Comments: I, like most, was impressed when I first pulled my MP20 out of the box. The concept alone was intriguing. I had seen the MP40 in operation but didn't need the flow, thus choosing the model with less output. So I read through the manual, hooked it up, and ran it. Small alignment issue caused some nasty vibration but I was able to quiet it to a low hum. Unfortunately, after the "break-in" period it started making grinding noises and I noticed the prop was spinning. Less than 48 hrs into ownership and I already had a support ticket with the mfr. Even had an issue where, upon receipt, the power cable was not firmly attached to the driver. Ecotech said "it's fine - won't be a problem". Um... no thanks. Fixed it myself. Upon disassembly of the wet side I realized that this pump was not very well engineered - bushing is held in place by small tabs that deform as soon as you put the prop nut back on. Sounds trivial but it causes the shaft to seat lower and lower over time eventually causing some nasty rubbing between the wet-side magnet and the cover. I'll wait for someone to build one with all the kinks worked out and that doesn't require constant user maintenance... my MP20 will be available on eBay if you're interested. ;)
I would not recommend this product to my friends.

MP20 Review by DC84
Experience Level: Intermediate
Posted on 8/19/2008 from LAKEWOOD, NJ UNITED STATES
Comments: Just installed the Vortech MP20 on my 48" wide/65g rimless and it performs great. It's very sleek and the design helps keep the power cord clutter minimal. The flow is very broad and provides current all the way to the other end of the tank. I have fine substrate and the current is gentle enough not to disturb the sandbed. When you fine-tune the alignment of the magnets, it's VERY quiet! I'm glad I went with the MP20 (instead of the 40, but can always upgrade later) since this one unit seems to provide more than adequate flow, and my sump return line provides opposing current.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

WOW by JOHN MEDINA
Experience Level: Expert
Posted on 8/12/2008 from ROHNERT PARK, CA UNITED STATES
Comments: I love the propeller, I have a 300 gallon tank 8ft long, its hard to move the water from 1 end to the other but not with this pump, 3/4 plexi makes it hard for it to be turned up to the max flow, as the magnets would come apart, but after removing the interior backing it works great, be sure to use the foam cover, I lost a small fish in its powerful suction. easy to use! Make sure to place the controller in a convient location for turning it down at feeding time.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.
