Unsatisfactory
Not Happy with these pumps by JR

Comments: I bought 2 of these pumps and battery backup at a cost of just around $1000. I paid for 2 day shipping. They performed well for less than 24 hrs before the controller on one of the pumps stopped functioning. I contacted Ecotech Marine and I shipped it back UPS 2-day shipping at additional expense to me of course. They have shipped it back (and I'm still waiting on it) by UPS GROUND. The second pump was squealing this morning after working great for a week and does not seem to be working correctly. I bought these because they got such great reviews, but now I think I may have been better suited going back to Seio or Maxijet mods. At least they worked without fail! Very disappointed with this product. Maybe Ecotech will make it up with better customer support, but right now I just feel ripped off.
I would not recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I purchased this to go on a 225 gallon tank that is in the works but decided to try the pumps out on my 110. This pump was great out of the box. With a little alighnment i had great flow with low noise. They were about as loud as the fans on my lights. with just one at full blast, my mushrooms were rolling around on the sand. The wireless drivers are great and easy to use after a little playing. feed and night modes are handy. The price is high but when comparing to tunze, 2 6101's 2 magnets and a 7095 controller would cost more than 2 mp40w's with the battery backup. i may even add more pumps on the new tank if and when needed. I just hope the price will go down between now and then.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Great Pumps! by Maitai123

Comments: I normally use Tunze 6060 pumps for my 300 gallon reef tank. After one of my pumps stopped working I decided to go with 2 VorTech pumps with the Battery backup as I have always been nervous about power outages, especially when I am traveling, which is very often. I also am doing my best to keep my water temperature under 82 degrees at all times (without a chiller). I was running 4 Tunze pumps. The flow was fine with the Tunze pumps but the intakes would foul up with algae every 2 months or less. They had to be removed and cleaned, + with 4 pumps this was adding to the heat build up. I took a chance with the VorTech pumps and have been very please with them. They are not noisy, but you have to first be careful with the alignment. Once up and running, they are virtually silent. I really like them as the flow is very powerful and the spread is very wide, which is excellent for my corals. The only negative thing I can say is there is no way to angle them or rotate them on a pivot point. This does limit the usage and capability a bit, but the quality design, and excellent flow makes up with this one small negative. I definitely recommend them.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.
