By adding IceCap`s Battery Backup you are insulated from power interruptions for up to 30 hours. In 4 - 10 hours of no flow, an aquarium with all its fish and corals begins to die. Buy time, it`s rarely for sale.

Comments: Could have been (better) designed with wire connections on the top so that you can place it upright on the floor behind the tank, but I guess they figured you would mount it inside the stand. Also, there are connections for the battery to run two Ecotech units, but the battery comes with only one set of connecting wires for one pump (?).Besides these minor issues, its simple to install, worked when I tested it, and does give you a sence of comfort knowing you will have power in a blackout.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: This solid, heavy little unit, built & backed by Icecap, is a perfect complement to EcoTech Marine's VorTech. It truly is insurance in a box, and is a better alternative by far than my previous "prayer method" approach to a power outage. I also see that Icecap plans to offer a battery replacement in 5-6 years with equivelant or current technology for a projected nominal fee of roughly $65 + shipping... now that's thinking ahead.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.
