Great

Pretty good filter by THINH PHAM

Comments: I bought the 2217 filter and found that it works pretty well once i managed to set it up correctly. The manual was no help but i remedy that by reading articles on the internet. The filter is quiet and power is sufficient for my needs. I did not have the messy priming problem like a lot of people on the internet report. The trick is how you connect the quick-disconnect valves to the filter. If you do it right, priming is a breeze. Couldn't believe how easy that was. Pros: Reasonable price/Well-made filter/All mechanical/biological/chemical filter media included Cons: The clips that hold the filter head to the body is pretty loose. In fact, one of them felt into the filter head during shipping/handling and i have to disassemble the head to get it out. Once assembled, it still doesn't feel very secured. My box is also missing one of the suction cup holder and i have to get one from a friend. Don't know who's fault that is... Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I like the filter a lot. The instructions however are poorly presented and very hard to navigate. It would also be helpful to have a simple explanation about how to replace the filter media that are provided. The filter includes several substrates but the sales catalogue does not explain how to simply purchase a replacement for the filter assembly nor how to layer the individual filter materials that were provided. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I filled my 2217 with EHeimech and my 2215 with carbon. I have a 55 gallon tank with over a hundred guppys. My tank water "sparkles"!!! Very Very happy Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: This is my second Eheim 2217. The job needed for is filled by the filter. I have been an Eheim user since the 70's. They both are keeping my outdoor ponds clean and clear. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Unsatisfactory

No customer friendly manuals! by SVETLANA TILLINGHAST

Comments: We were waiting for this filter for a week after purchased it online in petstore.com. It was disappointment because it came from city just one hour away from us. Secondly, filter was broken. It took for us awhile to figure it out. Manual is so complicated, I would say - no customer friendly at all! There were 2 x Shut-off Valves and no explanation what to do with them. You can see on a picture where they supposed to be, but you can't connect it properly – exhaust diameter is the same as tube that should be connected to exhaust. After an hour trying to put it together we discovered that a lead for media canister is broken. It was a packaging problem – the filter was shipped in a box much bigger than original box is, and it didn’t have any supported materials inside – no air bags, no foam pieces that fill empty spaces. We returned the filter next day to local store (they don’t care such brand that’s why we had to buy online). And we bought Fluval Canister Filter, with very good instructions, DVD, very convenient for maintenance, very-very quiet. And we recommend other – This is the canister filter that your fish and turtles will like, and you will be pleased. If you are not professional – buy Fluval. It was make for customer! Not Eheim Classic External Canister Filter. I would not recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I just finished setting up my 125 gallon aquarium and this canister filter is currently running in it. Though I didn't have any experience with canister filter, I would say that assembling it was OK. Instructions could be more clear and self-explanatory for noobs like myself but luckily I had 2 helpful friends putting the whole thing together and it works. I read many online reviews before purchasing this filter, and everybody was recommending it because of the very little noise it makes. Well, if you're familiar with electric toothbrushes (e.g. Oral-B), this is less noisy. I was suspicious at the beginning, checking the filter every hour to make sure it works. Overall, I'm very satisfied with it, I like the design, it's very handy. I can't say anything about its cleaning power since I'm cycling my new tank right now and the aquarium currently runs without fish in it. No doubt though it will keep my large tank clean. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I have an aquarium in my room and I am sensitive to bubbling sounds of air from air-pump which gives me difficult time to sleep at night. With Eheim 2213, the noise control was excellent and I'm having good-night sleep again with chrystal clear aquarium. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I have two of the Eheim Classic 2215's taking care of my 55 gallon planted aquarium. They are quiet and well made. The flow from the two filters produce a very even current. I ditched the Eheim spray bars for the output into the tank, I use the U tube with directional return. (They're listed under the plumbing stuff). Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: Powerful filter, wicked easy setup, only thing is if you are going to use the valve system they include for ease of detaching from your aquarium and cleaning, you will need two extra hoses not included. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: We bought two of these filter systems 6 months ago. In that time, one filter is working fine and the other filter has pumped a minimum of 10 gallons of water on our living room carpet as it continues to fail. It would seem that the pump is not only leaking but the motor is failing. WHAT A MESS !!! BUYER BEWARE !!! I would not recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: This is a great filter, and very easy to setup. If your looking for a filter with large media capacity and high flow this is the one for you. I have mine on a 125 and it works great. My only suggestion is to buy extra media bags. It comes with a big full canister size bag, but the 2 media plates have rather large openings. If you plan to use more than type of media and want to keep them apart buy extra bags. I put 2 liters of EhfiMech 10 liters of EhfiSubstrate Pro and 2 liters of EhfiFix This thing is a monster. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I have used this filter on my 40 gal breeder reef tank for 3 years, no protien skimmer, I use the surface suction inlet and service the filter once a month, it's so quiet, I love that I would not recommend this product to my friends.
