Eshopps

The NEW Cube Nano Refugium features innovative design with dual water channels for superior aquarium filtration. It features two separate water channels; one channel sends water to the refugium section while the second chamber sends water to the protein skimmer chamber. This unique design enables the water to travel through each compartment separately after entering the sump for better water contact time and better nutrient exportation. The advantage of better water contact time thru the water channels is the undissolved organic waste can be removed more efficiently by the protein skimmer, while having a completely separate refugium channel that allows macro-algae to aid in the removal of ammonia, nitrates, phosphates and other unwanted nutrients that cause algae blooms and more.

I loved it but returned it

I loved the workmanship and design of this sump. It was super clean. However, I did not measure the hole in my cabinet correctly and it was 1/2 inch too big. Unfortunately I had to return it.

Compact and pretty.

I needed a sump that would fit under my 33 gallon Oceanic cube that I decided to bring out of the garage and give life to once again. Overall I am very pleased. The sump was ready to go out of the box and it was packed very well. The materials are quality and it is ascetically pleasing. The ONLY thing that is a pain about this sump IMO is that the skimmer section has very low cut grooves for the water to flow into the return section. I ordered the eshopps PSK-75 in sump skimmer to use along with this setup and the pump for the skimmer requires me to keep the water lever higher than the grooves in order to be completely submerged. Evaporation effects the level of water in the section and ultimately the production of the skimmer. (I run a 250w HQI paired with a Kessil A160WE Tuna blue with an open top so I have a fair amount of daily evaporation.) Do not expect this to be a direct fit to any eshopps overflow box. I made that mistake and found myself making a trip to home depot. I would recommend this to anyone with a nano tank that has space constraint in their cabinet.

Great sump

I have this running with a 40g breeder tank and its perfect. I had a 20 I was going to use it on, but came across a 40 and got it. So, since I didn't want to go through the process of returning it and getting another one i just used it. It's been up for a wee running and its working great. It's not loud at all and its in my bedroom. The only thing that I dislike is the cover that goes across where the sock and return area is. With my 3/4in hose coming out of the return the cover can't close all the way so I just have it leaning across the hose and it blocks some noise out. I did end up having to put a 8in mark for the sump area so I knew where the water needed to stay in the sump, but put it to 9 cause the extra water in the sump helped with my return pump. Really I would say this sump can work up to 40 gallons not 35. I def wouldn't use it for a tank larger than 40 gallons.

Quality/Nice size...but...

This is a decent nano sump. The construction, acrylic and seams are top-notch. I do wish all the water flowed first from the drain into the filter sock before going into the fuge. I get some detritus build-up in the bottom of the fuge area because of this. But I can live with that. My biggest complaint is really with the white acrylic dividers. I wish they had designed the compartments with something transparent rather than opaque white. It looks nice but when you set it up as intended (with the skimmer and fuge chambers facing forward) it's basically impossible to see into the drain and return chambers. This makes adjustments to my ATO or return pump and cleaning somewhat of a pain. It seems this should have been taken into consideration based on the sumps compact design(and ability to fit into smaller cabinets). I like the idea and the quality of the build but I'm not sure it was carried out as best it could have been.

.

This little sump is great, really happy with the fit and finish. I installed it on my Biocube 29, for more water in the system and better skimmer options. You can tell its well thought out and engineered well, it runs fairly quiet, fits well in my stock bio cube cabinet (I had to remove the cabinet shelf, but that’s to be expected). Overall I’m pleased with this purchased and the extra filtration it will bring to my Biocube.

Unique and Impressive

My Eshopps Cube Refugium arrived today. I am impressed with the high quality construction and materials, and the unique design. It fits nicely under my 25 gallon cube aquarium and provides everything I wanted at half the price I expected to pay for a cube refugium. As always, shopping at Marine Depot was easy, and delivery was fast.

Very Solid Unique Design

I upgraded from a CPR CR500 to this sump and glad I took the plunge. This sump feels extremely well built and has a lot of utility built into a small foot-print. Pros: 1) Compact Size contains Fuge and Skimmer compartments 2) Skimmer Compartment is large and should be useable for several different models 3) Use of white panels in the construction gives the sump a very modern look 4) Filter sock replacement is very easy Cons: 1) White panels can prevent vision in various chambers depending on how you position the sump 2) With this being meant for relatively small tanks, I would have preferred a larger Fuge area and smaller Skimmer chamber as there are several small skimmers on the market 3) Not all water flows through the filter sock (Fuge is fed first and by water that does not go through the sock 4) Cost - higher end of the cost scale for tank size it's recommended for Even though I listed several cons, these all only equate to 1 star lost for me. As a whole this Sump is a great option for smaller tanks and specifically smaller cube tanks since there has not been a lot of sump options in this size/shape.
