This is a good heater. I checked it in comparison with a thermometer, the temperatures were close and the temperature on the signal was quite accurate. The only potential issue is that because of the plastic shield around the glass tube, the heater absolutely must be in a tank that has good water circulation to keep water moving against the heating element.

This heater is the best on the market. I was using another brand but always "felt" that it was giving false readings. Set this one up and I was right. It was running my tank 2 degrees warmer than I had it set for. This heater immediately corrected the issue and has been working flawlessly. I also invested in back up temp monitoring and it confirmed that this Fluval heater is the exact temp its set for. Awesome product, only wish I have is it didn't use suction cups. Would have been better off with some sort of magnets to hold it in place. Still it's a perfect heater and would recommend it!

I have four of these 2 X 50W, 200W and 300W and they're all doing great especially at night time. Easy to read the temperature and very accurate readings. ( I still have the original basic thermometers also installed and compare them just to make sure readings are correct.

This is an excellent heater. The integrated LCD is great and the color coding lets you know at a glance if the temp is correct. Love that the glass in covered and that it is easily disassembled for cleaning. I have the heater horizontal near the substrate and it keeps the temp to within a half degree. Use the wattage rating only as a guide, ALL aquarium heaters can only raise the temperature of the tank a certain degrees above room temp, so instead of relying on the number printed on the box do a bit of math before you purchase. I needed the 100 watt to heat a 9 gallon tank (actually 7.5 gallons when you calculate the thickness of the glass and the fact that you don't fill it to the top)

I had been eying these heaters for some time and finally decided to purchase three; a 50 W, 100 W, and 200 W for a 6 gal, 29 gal, and 37 gallon aquariums respectfully. They were to become my primary heaters thus relegating my current ones to backup. I liked the fact that the plastic housing would protect my invertebrates from being fried and the color-changing, lit-up, digital thermometer would be highly visible for instant feedback. The 50W and the 100W were the first to arrive so I put the 50W into a 4-gallon bucket destined for a water change. The heater was not able to get the water up to 79 or 80 degrees. It could only maintain the 4 gallon bucket at 77 degrees. I thought that if I added a Coralia Nano to the bucket, the added water movement would help, but it didn't. The 100-watt heater went into my 29 gal aquarium to replace the $17 standard variety heater that everyone is familiar with (It is made by Penn-Plax and called Cascade Heat...it has a lifetime warranty by the way). I was extremely disappointed to see that the temperature began to drop when I unplugged the standard heater. The Fluval E 100-Watt couldn't maintain the 79-80 degrees that my old 75-watt had no problem handling with ease. With the definition of insanity being trying the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result, I decided to stop the insanity when I received the back-ordered Fluval E-200 a week later. I had absolutely no confidence that it could relegate my current 200-watt heater to backup duty, so it and the other two Fluvals' went back to whence they came. These heaters are great concepts, but if they don't perform their primary function, then they aren't worth squat. It is like buying a cell phone that has all kinds of nifty features but can't make a phone call. At nearly 3 times the cost of a standard heater (and an increase in size) they should be able to do more than lesser wattage heaters can. They should also have a lifetime warranty in

Heater works great as advertised. I replaced the original stealth heater I had for 4 years with this unit. Works well and holds the temp in the tank to within 1 degree.
