Manufacturer Info

Hanna Instruments USA Aquarium Supplies
Hanna Instruments is a leading manufacturer of analytical aquarium instrumentation. They were founded in 1978 and are headquartered in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. When Hanna introduced pH Electronic Paper in 1986 it literally revolutionized the world of testing by allowing millions of people in various industries to test for pH in a simple, accurate and affordable way. Hanna employees are constantly challenging themselves to improve on existing technology and to invent new testing techniques with the common goal to simplify analytical testing. This applies not only to instrumentation, but also to sensors development, reagents and chemicals. Hanna also believes in controlling the quality of their products from inception to delivery so they manufacture everything themselves, from meters and electrodes to chemical reagents and buffer solutions.

East Peasy

I have a Red Sea testing ensemble (several kits) and had a difficult time in the test procedures. With these units I can do in 10 minutes or less what took me 30 to 45 minutes and instead of having to guess what color something is they give a Analog readout! SIMPLE!!! Mike

Hanna Equipment

I like what I got so far, with the exception that none of the chemicals needed for using the PH tester were included in the kit. Shame on me for not reading more of the fine print, but why in the heck would you just not include the needed chemical needed to use the unit? Even if it meant the price would be a little bit more? After getting ready to use the PH tester and then finding out the chemicals were not included, then I started reading other reviews and found others that had done the same thing and they were equally disappointed. I really think the needed chemicals should be added to the kit. So I did place an order with you for the additional chemicals and have resorted to my old color chart testing until they arrive. For the other testers, they are helping me verify my other tests and doing so easier. Wish the Phosphate tester came with more chemicals than just enough to do 6 tests. For such good equipment, seems to me that a larger amount of test chemicals should come with them. We will just have to order what we need. Thanks, Rick

hanna checker kit

They all work well, easy to use, consistent readings. Good value for your money. The directions could be better, not clear enough especially if someone has never used a test kit. The ph meter is slow to give a stable reading so you must put sample in separate container to test. I would buy again.

Accurate but not user-friendly

I bought the Hanna colorimeters thinking they would be simple and easy to use since they are sold on a consumer based website. This was poor thinking on my part. All four meters were difficult and complicated, even with having a degree in Chemistry. pH meter: DOES NOT come with buffers needed for calibration or storage. You will need to buy pH 4.0 and a pH 7.0 or 10.0 buffer for calibration. Most pH probes can be stored in pH buffer, this one only specified that it should be stored in Storage Solution and not DI Water. Alkalinity: Not terrible. Hard to see reagent level for reordering. Calcium: Most difficult. Must be dosed with both a liquid and powder reagent. Meter will only read to 400ppm, while reef tanks can be in the 400 ppm range. This will require dilutions. Phosphate: Not bad, until the unit auto-shutsoff after the timer ends. I suggest using the second cuvett as a blank. If you have the money, look into Hach products instead.

Did not like it. Different readings every time. Instructions don't tell you how to preform the test.

Great testers

I have had other reagent type test kits and they where not accurate. I bought this becouse of that. These are simple to use and seam to be accurate. The only thing was the PH did not come with any buffer solution to calibrate it.You will also need the solution to store the PH prob in. The phasphate only comes with 6 reagent packets. Pros: Easy to use and accurate. Cons: Only 6 test for the phasphate and could not use the PH probe becouse it did not come with the buffer solution to calibrate it.

hard to use

Hard to use. it's easer to use Kent test kits. I'm not happy with this products I'm hoping that I can get my money back, the directions are not detailed instructions and hard to follow on 2 of the meters Calcium and the kh, Ph is ok and the phosphate is + - take it or leave it Kent products are easer to use
