Phosphates are particularly important for the growth and development of plant roots, and hence are one of the most common fertilizers used in agriculture. In addition, phosphates are usually utilized in detergents and are needed, in small quantities, for heating systems. However, high concentrations of phosphates can cause environmental pollution: they are for example a primary cause of eutrophication. For these reasons, it is necessary to closely monitor the phosphate levels present in both civil and industrial waste water.

Manufacturer Info

Hanna Instruments USA Aquarium Supplies
Hanna Instruments is a leading manufacturer of analytical aquarium instrumentation. They were founded in 1978 and are headquartered in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. When Hanna introduced pH Electronic Paper in 1986 it literally revolutionized the world of testing by allowing millions of people in various industries to test for pH in a simple, accurate and affordable way. Hanna employees are constantly challenging themselves to improve on existing technology and to invent new testing techniques with the common goal to simplify analytical testing. This applies not only to instrumentation, but also to sensors development, reagents and chemicals. Hanna also believes in controlling the quality of their products from inception to delivery so they manufacture everything themselves, from meters and electrodes to chemical reagents and buffer solutions.

Easy to Use

I really like this meter. It is very easy to use. The only reason I gave it a 4 instead of 5 stars, is it did not come with any reagent. I waited for the monitor to come only to have to separately order the reagent before I could use it.

Hanna Phosphate Meter

I own 2 of the green instruments that I run side by side. I upgraded to this meter and ran tests. The meter is more has more consistent results than the green phosphate instruments. I would recommend purchasing this instrument before you purchase any of the green instruments.

Hanna phosphate

This appears to be a fine instrument. It is solid, and of professional quality. Very straightforward operation.....however, be aware that it doesn't come with ANY reagent! Purchase this when you order so you can use the instrument right away.
