Manufacturer Info

Hanna Instruments USA Aquarium Supplies
Hanna Instruments is a leading manufacturer of analytical aquarium instrumentation. They were founded in 1978 and are headquartered in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. When Hanna introduced pH Electronic Paper in 1986 it literally revolutionized the world of testing by allowing millions of people in various industries to test for pH in a simple, accurate and affordable way. Hanna employees are constantly challenging themselves to improve on existing technology and to invent new testing techniques with the common goal to simplify analytical testing. This applies not only to instrumentation, but also to sensors development, reagents and chemicals. Hanna also believes in controlling the quality of their products from inception to delivery so they manufacture everything themselves, from meters and electrodes to chemical reagents and buffer solutions.

Q
Does the kit test for chloramines?
Does the kit test for chloramines or just Chlorine? If so is it measured individually or a combined total? If not do you have one that does?

A
This kits tests for total chlorine: which includes chlorine and chloramines. One option is to test the water after it has gone through the sediment and carbon stages of your RO (or RO/DI filter). If the water tests positive after going through the carbon cartridge, then you either have an exhausted carbon cartridge or chloramines in your water source.

“HANNA”
5.0

This should be reviewing the Alkalinity test kit and not the Chlorine tests. The product is good. The attention to detail regarding product review questionnaire is lacking.

I only use my Hanna phosphate checker and occasionally the Hanna calcium checker and maintain great levels. I do test phosphates once a day. It usually will give me an indication that something is going on. It's usually something died that was just old, like a small fish, but occasionally I can s...Read More

“inventory”
5.0

This item is what it is described as,it comes with a new syringe and is in a convenient box for storage until it's needed. The Hanna checker works nicely. There is also an expiration date on the reagent,I would think the product probably has a considerable shelf life, but,it's there just the same.

“Hannah Ca Checkers/Reagents”
1.0

I have 3 Hannah checkers and it is only this checker/reagent I have to rate poorly. I don't know if it's the checkers or the reagent but it seems many hobbyists are noting that the Ca checker results are in many cases 100 ppm and greater above actual levels. I reacted to a Hannah Ca checker level of...Read More

“Needs better packaging”
3.0

Not user friendly packaging, this single fact makes it harder than it needs to be to use. Hence the lower rating.

“Required purchase”

Can't have a reef tank without Hanna testers. Well , you can but I would not recommend it. This product is always consistent even with cross testing with other products, Hanna checkers are always spot on and half the time.
