The Hydor Hydrokable heating cable is a versatile substrate heater designed for use in aquariums and terrariums. Ideal for use completely submerged or in a dry habitat. The Hydrokable provides regular and even heating throughout the substrate media. In the aquarium, the warmed water creates a slow water circulation effect throughout the media, which is beneficial to many varieties of live aquatic plants and other aquarium inhabitants. In the terrarium, the Hydrokable warms the entire substrate media to a desired temperature eliminating sections of uneven heating. The Hydrokable is best used with the Hydor Hydroset for precise temperature control. Use of the Hydroset allows the Hydrokable to be used to stimulate specific plant growth cycles as well as to meet specific reptile heating requirements. For ideal plant growth conditions, use the Hydroset to maintain the substrate temperature slightly higher than the aquarium water temperature. While the use of the Hydroset is recommended, the Hydrokable functions properly on its own and will heat the substrate accordingly in relation to the suggested gallons noted in the instructions. The Hydroset is intended to be used in an ‘S` pattern using the included suction cups. See instructions for complete directions. For indoor use only. Reliable and easy to use.

Comments: This review is for the 100W cable not the 25W. I bought this with the Hydor HYDROSET Electronic Thermostat with temp dial that they recommend with it. Time of use: So far about 2 weeks. Pros: 1. So far it seems to keep my 55G FW planted at a very constant temperature. I have a separate digital thermometer to make sure its not off and they match temps pretty closely. 2. You don't see it! 3. It promotes root growth for my plants. Con:The only thing I would say is a con is that they really don't say this about the product in the details before you buy it. To install it you really need a tank with nothing in it. The 100W version is pretty long and the manual says the line cannot cross itself without ruining the product. It comes with suction cups to secure it to the bottom of the tank and to fit the whole thing in a 55G tank it really gets pretty close to itself as it crisscrosses the entire tank. The only other thing and this is just nit picky but why did they not make the line black?(its white and I have other black hose in my tank)
