Wavemaker Photocell

Pros: Does what it says. It detects when the aquarium lighting comes on and starts up the powerhead as you've set it. Cons: At least for me, I have my aquarium in the garage. I assumed as long as there is plenty of ambient light (i.e morning) that it'll detect the light and come on, but it doesn't. Since I set my lights to come on at 3PM, it doesn't come on til then. Might have to adjust the photocell if possible. Conclusion: Should have been included in the wavemaker purchase instead of a separate purchase.

photocell works great!

The Hydor Koralia photocell is working great! Very easy to install. I mounted it with the supplied bracket on the cross bar of my aquarium under my lighting. Then just plugged it into the wavemaker, That's it. The photocell already comes calibrated and I didn't need to adjust it at all, although it can be re-calibrated if needed. I thought when my night time led's were on the photocell might detect the light and turn my wavemaker back on, but it didn't. I don't understand why it doesn't actually come supplied with the wavemaker already, but it is a great product and worth the investment.

Awesome!

As I have not set up my aquarium yet, I hooked up the four controllable 4 pumps and the wavemaker 4 and put them in the bathtub just to get a general idea of what I could expect..WOW!! The water movement was excellent. Also, there are quite a few preprogrammed wave movements to choose from,or you can customize it to suit your needs. All and all it seems to be a very quality product. I can't wait to play with it once I get my system up and running. It may be a little on the expensive side, but I believe that you get what you pay for and, from what I've seen so far, I'm very pleased!!

Works Great!

Not too much to say. You plug it in, find a spot close to your tank's lighting and walk away. Excellent!

Hydor Koralia Wavemaker Photoc

The Koralia Wavemaker Photocell works perfectly. The instruction manual states that it can be recalibrated but there was no need to, the sensitivity is fine right out of the box. I'm running 2x250watt 15K metal halides with no photocell sensitivity problems what so ever. I would anticipate it would work just fine right out of the box with flourescent fixtures as well. Just make sure it's located in a spot that the photocell is well illuminated by your lights.
