If you desire the highest water quality but are frustrated with media reactors on the market….Meet the all new MiniMax. The MiniMax All-In-One Media Reactor is a novel approach to optimize chemical and biological filtration for nano aquariums. Its’ innovative Patent Pending design minimizes the need for flexible tubes, pvc pipes, ball valves, thumb screws, and unnecessary clutter that are usually associated with typical media reactors. Its’ ingenious design maximizes performance and offers out of the box responsive flow control, easy maintenance, low power consumption, and the smallest form factor ever built. The versatile MiniMax is designed to be discreetly hidden behind All-In-One Aquariums or placed directly in sumps.

Responsive Flow Control – Unique dual chamber design, allows for quick and responsive flow control within seconds with a simple turn of knob without the need for ball valves and inlet/outlet pipes.
Efficiency – Utilizes upward flow pattern that requires less flow and lower energy consumption.
Eliminate Messy Maintenance– Internal chamber acts as a removable cartridge that simply slides out of outer chamber and automatically drains water out without the need for tools and time consuming thumb screws to unfasten.
Nano Size – We produced the smallest Nano Reactor with the integrated features right out the box. No additional equipment is necessary. Desktop (150ml Max Volume Capacity).
All-In-One Design – For use with Bio Pellets, GFO, or Carbon.

A great media reactor

I'm a little baffled by how stunned some of the reviewers are here. Please post which SIZE you have purchased. I'm reviewing the FULL SIZE. This is an excellent product, and works perfectly fine. Here are a few concerns people seem to have with it though... 1. Having a removable media basket is useless because you need to remove the entire unit to flush new media anyway: WRONG! RTFM! Remove, empty, fill, rinse under a tap and reinstall. You do not need to remove the unit to refill it. This is absurd. 2. This will not tumble, or over tumbles my GFO: Adjust the valve assembly, if you cannot get this unit to tumble GFO, you are using it wrong. This WILL tumble bio pellets, it will certainly tumble GFO. 3. When I turn off the unit, the sponges and GFO fall to the bottom of the unit and when I restart it, the GFO snows into my sump: double up your sponges, add an elastic band, do something... this isn't rocket science. As with ALL media reactors this can happen. 4. The pump is under-powered. Perhaps true on the smaller units, but this isn't the case on mine. I'm running a 70 / 30 carbon pellet / HC GFO between 4 sponges with more than sufficient flow. 5. I can't see it tumbling when it's in sump, so it's impossible to adjust: Hang it in your display tank, adjust, put back in sump... I'm amazed some of you can operate your shoe laces.

Works For Me

Nice looking sturdy unit. Easy to install. I put it in my 30L Nuvo in a bay next to a filter sock on the right side and have a mini max skimmer next to a sock on the left side. The pump is adequate with full flow with about a 1/2 cup of Bio Pellets. Easy to remove and replace the media insert without taking off the reactor body. Its very easy to adjust flow if needed.

does not work well with GFO

it requires constant adjusting for gfo finally get it set right and the next day it wont be moving the media so you adjust it again. i give it 4 stars because it does work and maybe with carbon and bio pellets it would be fine. i will try different type of gfo i am using rowaphos as of now.

needs some improvements

Purchased the full size. It is a nice little unit and very good for saving sump space. I ran GFO to start with, but found when the power is cut, for what ever reason, the 2 sponges float down into the GFO media. Then when power is restored, the GFO blows up and out into your sump. Needs better sponges for GFO. I am running bio pellets now, seems OK with them, no sponges needed. So would also run carbon OK. Sponges on top of media. Problem also when removing the inner cylinder, the units holding clamp only has 1 screw to tighten down on the outside cylinder. The entire unit tends to come out of the clamp together. Adjustment knob a little hard to turn, maybe will get easier with time. Price kinda high for the build quality.

Pretty Good

This is a great product, you can tell with one look as soon as you take it out of the box that it is well built. I thought the pump is just a little bit chincy and weak and that is why four stars. You won't have to worry about adjusting it to a low tumble. It doesn't have the juice to go much higher.

IM Bio Reactor

Purchased the mid size unit (largest that would fit into my sump). Using on a 60 gal system and running with 1/2 cup Aquamaxx GFO. Runs well. Flow adjustment ok; difficult to add too much flow. Unit running for about 2 weeks now. Best of all, phosphates as close to zero I can tell using API test kit. Good unit for small places.

Great Looking Reactor

I admire the design and functions of this reactor. Setting it up was simple enough. Insert power pump, drop the main body to the desired location, lower the holding bracket over the body and tighten bracket screw into place. Now the inner core media body: you fill the desired media ( mine was GFO), then close the cap/flow adjuster , Rinse media on a separate container filled water and then insert/ drop the media . You then turn clockwise or counter clockwise to adjust water flow until you observed the media are tumbling gently and your done. Btw make sure your selected media of choice are not too fine as mine was that little pieces flowed out. I had to make a modification of adding a round fine pad to keep the media from escaping the reactor.
