Comments:
We were very pleased to receive our 28 gal. JBJ tank as quickly as we did. The price for the tank through this site was the best we had found in our searching and it had the bonus perk of coming with a tank stand. -The only problem with the stand is the parts of the stand were labeled incorrectly causing us to put together the stand backwards and upside down. Once we figured what was wrong it was very easy to set up and a very nice asset to the tank.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

I am very happy with this system thus far. I see a lot of complaints about certain things in other reviews. For an all-in-one system, I think this is fantastic, particularly for the price. Not sure whether I will go without the chiller long term or not, but for now I am running the light for 6 hours and the temp is fine, in fact my 240 that doesn't have MH lighting goes up more than this system due to all the pumps and PH's. The stand is very well made and easy to put together.

Receive all my equipment on time as stated. Tank ,stand chiller and hoses. Everything works welland looks good so far. The only thing I question is the protein skimmer. It looks rather cheap and the air pump is a little loud. Since I am only a beginner I don't have anything else to compare this to, but so far so good.

The aquarium itself is great. Works as advertised, came through shipping with no problem. I like the HQI Metal halide light, and the stand was relatively easy to assemble. However, some of the features, especially the built in protein skimmer...it's a joke. It's basically a wooden airstone bubbling in a plastic case. No venturi, and no forced water. It's really rather cheap. Also, either my chiller (That I bought simultaneously) is not working, or it is way under-rated. The website indicates the 1/15 horse power cools up to 40 gallons up to ten degrees...Hardly! My set temp is 78, and when I turn on my lights in the morning, the water temp is 75. By the time I turn them off, it has climbed to 82! Seven degrees in 12 hours is not going to make anyone in my tank happy!
I would not recommend this product to my friends.

I love this product, but was not happy with the way that I recevied it. I am going to follow up with an email of pictures that I am going to send on several things that were cracked or missing. i would like them to be replaced, or some sort of compensation for this. After spending close to 600 on a fish tank, I expect it to be in good condition.

I am very pleased with the jbj 28g nano cube. It was a great price and looks great. Everything is working properly and the stand was easy to build. I recieved it exactly when they said I would recieve it. I am definately pleased with my choice to go with the jbj 28g nano cube. I would recommend it to anyone that wants to do a reef aquarium. It would of been nice if it would of came with the transparent filter box that the 28g compact flourecent nano cube comes with to make a refugium with the jbj nano-glo led refugium light.

It is well constructed. It is not as wide as my old Aquascape 24 nano tank, it is 4 inches deeper and 3 inches higher and 3 inches less wide. The biggest out-point is the protein skimmer, you have to take the collection cup off to open the tank hood, even a little bit open. There is a small hatch that opens for feeding but if you want to get anywhere else in the tank besides dropping food or chemicals in it you have to take the skimmer cup off to open the hood. The HQI lighting is great, there is some actinic wave length to it but I think I'll add some smaller pc lighting as well, there is a tank that is sold with that hood option, just not with the free stand. I bought this through their eBay store for $524 for everything including shipping. The stand is great for an office or business but no where to put your coffee when your sitting looking. The shipping, packaging and communication from Petstore.com was great, couldn't ask more.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Had the cube set up for only 4 days but enough time to form some opinions. Lighting is excellent. LED's are very bright, hard to beleive this won't both inhabitants who like darkness Flow is good although tough to get at the PH's for cleaning. Stand is nice and easily assembled. Overall very satisfied with the purchase as only the skimmer is a problem. Skimmer is weak at best and poorly designed as you can't really raise the lid with the skimmer in place. Pretty dissapointed in this obvious design flaw.

I let JBJ Lighting know the following...Bubbles in glass in front. I didn't notice until I had it all set up...Transformer for the 4 moon lights didn't work. Protein Skimmer has to be taken apart to raise the top otherwise you will break the tube. I forgot and raised mine and broke it. This was all the first week I had the unit. JBJ would give me a 15% discount on a new Skimmer but will buy one where I can open the top.

This is a great all around saltwater tank. I would recommend the Nano, over the Bio Cube, due to the better water flow, more room in the back to ad upgrades, wave maker, the completly enclosed front portion of the tank, which keeps your friends from getting into the filter compartments. The only drawbacks I have had are: the stand instuctions are poor, and some have say the tank can over heat due to the large light output, but I haven't had any problems, but then again I due live in Wisconsin.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

As a long time fresh water aquariumist, but first time saltwater hobbyist, this is a great product. Easy to setup and the "all in one" system is excellent. Only time will tell as to how good I will be at saltwater, but this tank makes the beginning part easy.

It's a great tank with a sleek and low profile design. Skimmer isnt the best, but it works. I'm using my Tunze 9002 instead. Stand seems to be pretty sturdy, but instructions for assembly are terrible. Good pumps and the wave maker comes in pretty handy. Blue LED's give it great night lighting. The ballast is external and is pretty big, you'll either need to have it sitting near the tank somewhere or put it in the stand...It does run pretty hot, so I would take caution if you put it in the stand. Tank seems well put together. The rear chambers are pretty narrow so be careful on deciding what you're puting back there. Overall, the system is great...It has great lighting and great looks. The only real downside to this system is that it overheats due to the 150W MH and the closed top design. You will need to either blow air across the water with a fan or invest in a chiller. I have my AC set at 77F and the tank would reach about 84F maybe more if I hadnt started to cool it down. I used fans, but it clashes with the clean design and they create too much noise. I invested in a 1/15hp chiller and now my temps stay around 78F.

JBJ Nano Cube

Comments:
I have been a saltwater enthusiast for over 15 years, my 80 gallon tank is having a few issues, so I decided to go with something smaller with less maintenance. I did some research on-line and at the local fish stores and found that for the price value, the JBJ Nano Cube was best. This is my first experience with both a Nano Cube and ordering on-line. Both have been excellent! MarineDepot's customer service was able to assist me with my questions and within a couple of weeks I received my order. I still cannot believe that the promotion of tank + stand is less expensive than the tank alone! Everything is self-contained. Setup is relatively easy. Though if one was a novice, they might want to read up on saltwater aquariums first. The way the manual is written, it assumes that you have SOME experience. The quality of the tank is great - it took about 30 min to set up. The stand requires assembly and the instructions are somewhat confusing - set aside at least an hour. Within a couple of hours, I had my saltwater aquarium up and running...now the hard part is waiting for it to cycle. ;-) I would definitely recommend this product to anyone - novice to expert.

THIS IS A DECENT TANK.YOU NEED A CHILLER THOUGH I BOUGHT ONE WITH PURCHASE. BEFORE YOU LIFT THE LID YOU NEED TO TAKE THE SKIMMER CUP OFF.THIS IS A PAIN.BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO TURN THE SKIMMER OFF TOO.I REALLY DO NOT LIKE THE WAY THEY MADE THE NEW TANK.IT IS WAY MORE DEEP THAN WIDE.IT IS VERY SKINNY.I THINK THEY SHOULD OF MADE THEM WIDER.THE PUMP FOR THE SKIMMER IS LOUDER THAN THE CHILLER.EVERYTHING IS VERY QUIET EXCEPT THAT.BUT RUNS BETTER THAN THE RSM, WITCH I HAD AND RETURNED.

I think this tank is awesome! I recently downsized from a 55 gallon saltwater tank. Excellent look. Everything you need is there. Great lights. Pumps are good enough, no mods necessary. Filters config is very cool. Skimmer is a little cheap but does the trick. Just wish you didn't have to take the skimmer cup off to open the hood. Wavemaker is a nice touch. Stand is OK(kinda cheap parts, and directions leave something to be desired but looks alright. Guess I will glue the the vents on:)) Overall I am very happy with it. Only one modification is planned - DIY Auto-topoff system from aquahub.com One downfall I guess. I can see needing a chiller once summer gets here! Another $350 - ouch.

This is my second JBJ aquarium, having a 12 gal also. This company has really paid attention to the modifications that people have been doing to their nano cubes and have come out with a great all-in-one tank that can be reef ready out of the box. The protein skimmer-although air driven-works well giving me good brown skim. The wavemaker works great and the flow from the pumps are adequate for and softies and LPS. My one word of caution is that the tank will run hot, especially since I am in Florida. It typically runs 5-6 degrees above ambient so a chiller may be likely unless you keep the house rather cool. But, what do you expect with an enclosed metal halide lighting? I am extremely satisfied with the purchase

I would have to say I am pretty impressed with the tank. The lighting was better than expected. the protein skimmer was a little cheap looking, but actually does a pretty good job. The stand that it comes with has very poor instructions, so if you are going to get it, be prepaired for a little frustration. They didn't ship with the return flow nozzles, but I emailed JBJ support and they are sending them out no questions. The biggest issue is that more than likely you will need a chiller, which will add a couple hundred to the bill. I set it up and was running it in a room at 74 degrees and the tank would hit 81 to 82 degrees with the light on. A bit too hot. If you want to experiment with hard corals this might just work. The light should support it. All in all, great product.

I generally like JBJ products very much. This is the 2nd one I bought (I also have the original 24 gallon). The first one I received leaked along the rear bottom seam. I called Marine Depot and they immediately called JBJ who sent out a replacment tank within a few days. All in all a very good experience. This is a very big improvment with the HQI lighting. I am growing SPS frags successfully in this tank.

I Love My nanocube HQI. a couple of things I was worried about were evaporation and the tank overheating. Well, there is very little evaporation, and I am having no problems with the heat. I think if you keep your house any warmer than the mid 70's than you may need a chiller, but I keep my home at about 72 degrees and there are no problems with heat. Overall I give this tank 5 stars for look, ease of setup, and price, I know the price is a little high for a 28 gallon tank but when you factor in lighting, skimmer, wavemaker, powerheads, and the free stand there is no way you can have this nice of a tank for any less.

I just finished setting up and checking that the hardware and tank are in good shape. There is a little too much plastic and the stand directions left a lot to be desired. The wave maker is very cool, and it looks like the circulation will be pretty good!! The skimmer looks a bit cheep, I hope that it works. All in all, I am glad that I got it and can't wait to get some water and live rock in it!

This is a great aquarium the keeps you within the Nano aspect but providing you the ability to expand due to the Rear Chambers open design. The only downfalls that I have personally experience with this is that the stock Protein Skimmer should be replaced and that the glass scratches easily even using glass rated Mag-Cleaners. Other then that it is a great buy for you buck. Just remember the chiller! If you want more details check out my thread on the Marine Depot Forum: "Jasonanatal's 28 gallon JBJ Nano Cube HQI Reef Aquarium".

Our HQI has the top frame mounted one quarter inch higher on one side than the other. This causes the lid to not close properly and interferes with the filter overflow. Bad QC. Also the skimmer's air pump sounds like a jackhammer. The biggest problem is overheating. It is winter, and I have to prop open the lid and blow a small table top fan across the water to keep it from getting 85 degrees. Another 200+ bucks into a chiller will be the only way to get through the summer. So much for a "all in one system" - it's just like when I got my 90 gallon. Every week there is a new surprise and yet another purchase. This aquarium is not for the faint of heart. . .
I would not recommend this product to my friends.
