FAQ
Q: How large of a pump can I plug into the A.T.O.?
A: The A.T.O. receptacle will handle pumps up to 2amp capacity.
Q: Can the Audible Alert be turned off?
A: Yes, it can be turned off if the "Speaker Buzzer" is removed from the circuit board.
Q: Why does my A.T.O. automatically shut off after a few minutes of operation even though the water level has not reached the float sensor?
A: All A.T.O. Controllers have a factory "Float Fail-Safe" duration time period of 3 minutes and 45 seconds of operation before power to the pump is turned off. The Pump LED will glow but power to the pump will not be turned on. This feature was designed to act as a safety mechanism in the unlikely event the float sensor(s) failed or if something was to get stuck in between the sensor(s). You will have to reset the float sensor(s) to restart the controller.
Q: Can I adjust the "Float Fail-Safe" duration time period?
A: Yes, the duration time can be extended to 14 minutes of operation. (Please see instructions below on adjustment.)
How to Adjust the "Float Fail-Safe" Time Duration

Use a Phillips screwdriver and turn the dial COUNTER CLOCKWISE until it locks. This setting will give a operation mode time of approximately 14 minutes or until correct water level is reached. |

I have had this prodUct for about a year now. It only waorked Properly for around 3 months. One float snesor is completely broken and the other only works half the time. I thought I could do something to fix it now that I am about to leave for a trip but no luck. If a manufacturer stands behind their product you would expect longer than a 6 month warrenty. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!

I thought I had the answer to my concerns on keeping my water level in my fish tank solved so I could go on vacation with some comfort. BOY was I WRONG I fidled for 2 weeks trying to get the Float to function without any good results. The float always stuck where ever I placed it in the tank and with any lubication I could think of to get it to work. Finally, the night before leaving I went to Home Depot and purchased a digital timer that did the job for me.
I'm VERY disappointed to find a product from Marine Depot that didn't meet the standards I had placed with them.
Well, I guess that is why they have a return policy which I will be using when I get back from vacation.

Why did I wait so long to buy this? Very easy set up, I just used a 30 gal aquarium next to my 90 gal tank and stand, drips right in to the sump. Cut a piece of plexiglas with a cabinet handle for a lid to the resivoir and hid behind a plant.I now only have to fill the 30 gal every 3-4 weeks depending on room temp. Salinity is now consistent, corals and fish are happy, I no longer drag water across room every third day. Excellent product!!

this is a really good top off. I use mine a little differant than the examples in the owners manual. I use a 3 gallon container for the new water with r/o and a float shut off i put the ATO in mode A and then sensor 1 for low level top off then i took sensor 2 and instead of putting in reservor i put it in the sump also, but turned it upside down to prevent a mechanical malfuntion type overflow. if my reservor goes dry for some reason i really dont care its only got a chep 20.00 pump running it. but if my tank overflows in my living room i loose a 2000.00 floor. this method works flawlessly try it.

Kicks on kicks off .. Fills the sump so I don't have to everyday ...simple concept anyone can do it .. Would have liked if it was slim and stylish but it's still a wonderful product .. On the adjustment of the float .. Don really like the idea of it because how

Don't buy this. Worked fine for a month, then the electronics malfunctioned and left my pump on continuously. I was using mode B, so the two safety mechanisms should have been the second float switch and the 3 minute "time-out" function. The second float switch was triggered, but didn't turn the pump off. The 3 minute time-out function was not triggered, so it did not turn the pump off, and my 10 gallon top-off container was dumped into my tank, causing a flood. I've use a tunze ato on my other tank for 7 months without issue.
